The place is beautiful and people are nice there, but room was not so clean and they charge 18€ for a Breakfast without 1 single fruit... my first time in life. Charming but I would not go back.

We waited over 20 mins just to be served drinks here. We had to find our own menus and the waitress didn't even greet us when taking our order. When the order did arrive, they were served to the wrong people. The final straw was when I tried to pay. Not trusting our waitress to bring us the bill by the end of the day, I went in to pay at the counter. The owner (or at least the manager based on how she was dressed) started to listen to my request for the bill, but then got distracted before I finished my sentence by a friend, and decided to walk off mid-request to chat to her friend. Service here is unacceptably bad for a tourist area. There are many nicer, posher places in the area for food and drinka, and I highly recommend going to one of those places instead

I came to Gasthof Alt Sieseby from France to meet my sister currently living in Hamburg after the crazy CoVid waves.I wanted to have a slow peaced rythm in a place that reminded us of the farm where we both grew up in Mexico, and we did.We had a WONDERFUL dinner with laughter and stories. The service spoke English (which is lovely since I don't speak German), and their kindness and openness made me feel welcome in Germany. This is a place of peace where life is slow and real. Your mobile data might not work as fast as you want it to be, but for us that was a big plus.Real life is happening offline.

Sieseby is a charming village and there is one good restaurant, which is worth visiting; namely Gasthof Alt Sieseby von 1867, I had a fish dish and my friend had a steak and both dishes were superb. ||After dinner we took a gentle stroll down to the water's edge. What a perfect evening.

Sunday we had a wonderful meal chez Maria in Sieseby. If you compare the photos of the gasthof under the previous management and the new one there is a world of difference (also the menus of course). What was downright folksy before has become open and airy. Very pale pastels. One gets the impression the team work like a family: one person brings you a menu, another takes your order, another sets your table, the menu bearer comes back with your welcome drink, etc. things moves smoothly and you feel everyone cares about you. There's a nasty banging door to the kitchen that needs to be muffled - a simple wrinkle to be ironed out in an establishment that has only been open for a month. There's also a wooden bowl on the floor next to the bar that the staff stumble over that should be moved. An amuse bouche with bulgur (?) that hit the spot. Home made bread with a butter that had a lovely impression of a pineapple pressed into it. A delicious salad with a salty/sweet dressing and old-fashioned carrots with red rims. Fish served with a delicate mustard sauce. Delicious potatoes, slightly browned, with bits of ham that make the mouth water just to type about them. A plate of home made ravioli almost overflowing with green filling, once again mouthwatering. Valrhona chocolate mousse with a bit of rhubarb to finish off. Throughout Maria hovers and slips in and out of the kitchen and smiles at everyone, despite the stress and misery of being up at the crack of dawn to serve breakfast to guests and surviving to clear the final tables in the early morning every day. Even if you didn't want the delicious food, the trip would be worth it to bask in the warmth of her smile.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! Also very kid-friendly. Not the usual kind of restaurant in the North. High quality and creative.
