The perfect place for a break from everyday life...peace and quiet (you can turn your cell phone off, there's no reception anyway ;-) and pure nature. Plus a super friendly and helpful team. Thanks for the recommendations from the visitor mine and the Glashütte Watch Museum! That was really worth watching. The delicious food rounded off the stay! Thank you for the relaxing weekend!

Very friendly staff and delicious food. No internet so just put your cell phone away. The breakfast was lovingly prepared. The staff recommended many places in the area (e.g. the bobsleigh track). A very well-equipped lounge with a large TV and a small play kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and each bed had a bedside lamp. The toilets were very clean. We were just there for a school trip with a 6th grade class. Absolutely recommended for this age group. Four days in the great outdoors, with hikes, weather and herb studies, a visit to a mine and a raised moor hike, building stalls and much more, a great school trip. The food is top notch: healthy, varied and lovingly prepared and there is always a little surprise ready for the kids. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always in a good mood. The rooms are simple, furnished typical of a youth hostel but very clean and completely sufficient. A very big thank you for the great four days.

Went to Zinnwald for a 4th grade school trip. Simple but well-kept and clean furnishings, delicious warm dinners and a rich breakfast buffet, but above all nice, friendly and helpful staff who are always open to all kinds of concerns. Varied program for the children, highly recommended despite - or perhaps because of - the location in the dead zone. Keep it up, absolute recommendation!

The house is in a pretty shabby condition.This youth hostel is not recommended for families and older people as there are only spartan rooms with double bunk beds.The asking price is not justified.

Absolutely top youth hostel.You are in the middle of the forest and you can hear the rushing stream.Yes, the equipment is simple but you know that beforehand. Everything was super clean. Beds comfortable and warm. Each bed has a reading lamp.The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout. Like all the people we met in the Erzgebirge.The food is particularly noteworthy. That was really high level. Breakfast and dinner buffets are extremely varied (certainly 6 different types of sausage and 5 types of cheese) and lovingly prepared and decorated. Always fresh salad and small specialties. In the evening there is also warm food (various little things e.g. egg tarts, chicken wings; meat dumplings, potato wedges with homemade tzatziki...). For us, this even exceeded hotel standards. On the last day there was even a show cooking where you could put together your own dish that was freshly cooked.The 24-hour internet was completely sufficient for us for 5 days. For €3 you can't complain at all. It switches off automatically and only continues counting when you log in again.Thank you for the lovely stay.

We went hiking there in mid-September and it was a wonderful week! There are great hikes to do in and around Altenberg and one of the highlights for us was that the visitor mine was practically right on our doorstep!Rooms are furnished like a youth hostel and are completely fine! The staff was super friendly and always asked about our well-being and gave us lots of tips for possible day trips! All in all, this youth hostel is highly recommended! :)

We spent a few very nice days here and were given very nice and detailed advice about hikes and excursion destinations in the area. The team really put a lot of effort into making sure we had a great holiday and we felt completely comfortable. Thank you very much and greetings from Kiel!

Highly recommended accommodation for school trips. There are numerous program offerings and a plentiful selection of food. The staff is very helpful and friendly.I find the location in the middle of the forest next to a small stream and the poor cell phone coverage particularly practical - students can discover real life for themselves 😁There is also a publicly accessible sports field with soccer goals nearby, which complements the on-site leisure activities.
