We siblings were visiting our uncle in Twist and stayed at the Backers family-run country inn. The cleanliness of the rooms, which are equipped with loving details that make you feel comfortable, is immediately noticeable.Breakfast is served with regional products and includes homemade jams and many other delicacies. Egg dishes are prepared according to individual requests. There are only a few tables with a pleasantly large distance from the neighboring table, so that the volume of the neighboring tables spreads wonderfully throughout the room.The service is polite, quick and well informed about their products.The meat quality of the fish and the goose were outstanding. The restaurant attaches great importance to regional products and clearly states the origin of almost everything on its menu. Only the corn-fed poularde was from France, which is why I rejected it as a dish because I particularly prefer and support the concept of regional. You could also get regional beer from Meppen, although the price per bottle is high, perhaps a little too high.The starter's smoked catfish was on point, it was tender and no chewing was necessary. There was some kind of foam with the dish, which was extremely tasteless and could have used more of a kick. When it comes to the arrangement of the starters, there is still room for improvement. We also had a venison broth with slices of venison ravioli, which was also good.The main courses were of high quality, the goose was extremely tasty and the skin was wonderfully crispy. The dumplings that came with it were a little too firm at the core, so they became a little dry on the inside. However, there was a lot of sauce with the dish, so this problem was solved without any effort. By the way, I think it's great that there was an extra container with extra sauce from the start. As a native of MeckPommer, my food has to float and so I was able to freely design this according to my needs. The fried catfish was also excellent. The vegetable curry was wonderfully balanced and flavorful. The kale was probably fried or something similar and was draped over the fish for crunch. In combination with fish and kale, this tasted excellent and was something new or unusual. I'd love to see more ideas like this! Wonderfully crispy here too.The creme brulee tasted exactly like it should. Here too, the crispy top layer was perfect. I haven't met someone so perfect in a long time. These are often a bit too thin, but you can easily smash through them with your spoon and the aroma spreads out really well when you chew the crunch. The sorbet was a bit too soft or runny. Here it can be a little firmer, which would certainly intensify the taste. The forest and meadow honey parfait also tasted good. The presentation of the desserts and main courses was appealing.Summary: What I found most outstanding was all the crispy layers. Whoever is responsible, he or she knows his or her craft. The quality of the regional products is outstanding and unbeatable. French poularde is welcome to disappear from the menu and be replaced by a regional product. This would mean that the great concept would be implemented holistically. It would be desirable to have a homemade drink on the menu, such as a lemonade made from our own herbs; this would be an additional icing on the cake. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is appropriate and in keeping with the current times. The prices can be found in advance on the in-house homepage. All in all, Backers is a very good restaurant that I will visit again to try out the regional dishes.

Very courteous and attentive service and the food was delicious. Changing the menu was no problem at all. It was a really great evening and given the quality of the food, I'm happy to pay a reasonable price 👍🏻. Since my family stayed there, I was also able to take a look at the room. It seemed cozy and modern.

I am always amazed by the great food.

Had a 3 meal course here. The roe loin was very tender. Dessert was a mix of traditional panna cotta and modern dessert. Nice experience

Very limited menu but excellent food. Duck breast fillet was delicious!
