We went to the restaurant for lunch.The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. We will definitely plan a stop again when we drive through.

It is a three star hotel according to hotel standards, I get four stars because it has over 100 years of history and is beautifully and comfortably furnished. The rooms are simply furnished and very clean. It is a business with an old family tradition. The operators are very nice and friendly. The kitchen has a small menu and daily specials change, which is completely sufficient. Everything we ate there in the three days was great, no finished products, fresh dumplings and red cabbage. If we come back to Zella Mehlis we will stop there again

A business trip took us to Thuringia again, this time to the Hotel Stadt Suhl Zella Mehlis. An old house with a lot of tradition and a lovingly run family business 🥰 that's exactly what we're always looking for to help companies like this. Cozy, clean rooms, excellent Thuringian cuisine and the legendary Thuringian friendly hospitality tempt you to come back. Thank you very much ✌🏻😎

Review of the restaurant Stadt SuhlThe "Stadt Suhl" is one of the oldest, permanently family-run inns in Zella-Mehlis and enjoys a very good reputation for traditional, home-style cuisine.Booked well in advance for a Christmas party, this should be a good option - that's the plan.Telephone consultations took place in advance, including regarding a small selection menu; the owner confirmed that there should be “a little bit of everything”; was booked for 25 people.“A little bit of everything” turned out to be exactly 4 main courses - 3 of which were pork and one was fish. We had actually imagined it differently; a group of women in particular didn't want to eat exclusively meat today.When some guests asked to be able to choose something from the main menu instead, the response was absolutely unaccommodating - they couldn't make an exception for everyone.The food itself - well. Chestnut soup, which had nothing of the aroma of chestnuts, and steak with half a canned peach, cheese and fries or sliced rosti are more than unimaginative, convenience food such as frozen rosti and fries are disappointing, and the portions are also economical. The "meatless" option was dumpling with sauce, which I heard was at least tasty.For dessert there was only ice cream. Unfortunately nothing homemade - nothing other than ice cream. The variation with the fried apple rings - at least here we were "allowed" to choose from the main menu - was a visual eye-catcher, but unfortunately tasted of potato fat.When another person joined the group late and there wasn't enough space, we refused to add another table - even though we were alone in the dining room and there was a free smaller table. It would now be covered for exactly 25, period. So we had to stay close together.Neither the service left a good impression that evening, inflexible and even a bit snippy, nor the food. We didn't expect that, it's a shame.The positive side - the atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and friendly; the selected Franconian wines are very tasty.

The rooms are simply furnished, the furniture is a bit older. But, everything is clean. This also applies to the bathroom and shower. The service is good, the breakfast varied and filling. The beds are way too soft for my taste, but everyone likes it differently. All in all totally ok for the price!!
