I now also have to give a review for the youth hostel, even though I was there about 30 years ago. You all didn't see the old hostel father who turned out the fuse in the lounge at 10 p.m. sharp and closed the gate on time, even though students were still standing outside the gate. 500 stairs with luggage are no problem, I had to leave my bus at the bottom of the village and the 50 students and teachers then walked up the path, down again the next day, up again in the evening and that for a week. So if you expect a 5 star hotel, you shouldn't go to a youth hostel, especially in such a historic castle. Kind regards to the youth hostel staff, you're doing a great job.

We spent a weekend in Saldenburg with two other families for a games weekend that we organized ourselves. We really enjoyed the weekend. We had plenty of space to play, were well fed and had decent rooms. If you don't like stairs, you shouldn't come here. And you shouldn't expect a luxury hotel either, this is a youth hostel. Anyone who gets involved can enjoy a wonderful time in an impressive castle in a great landscape.

I have been going on regular school trips to Saldenburg for 20 years now.The location is unique and the old castle always has a special charm for the students. The outdoor area offers a variety of opportunities for leisure activities. You can also choose from different program modules and book them. The staff is very friendly and helpful and tries to fulfill all wishes. Both the breakfast and evening buffets are varied. For registered vegetarians there is a meat-free alternative every day. The partly negative reviews are difficult to understand and in no way do justice to the great work of the JH team.

We have been guests at Saldenburg at least 3 times and always felt extremely comfortable. Friendly staff, delicious food, fantastic views of the quiet forest tops, just great for us. Totally switch off. Children have great fun on the bouldering wall and on excursions, and friends are quickly made. You have to walk a few steps, no problem for healthy legs.

I was there and it was always the same for lunch and breakfast! My room was a ten-person room, and there was only one MINI window. In addition, there was WAY too little space for 10 people.
