One thing in advance: I read a lot of bad reviews about the Hotel zum Vikinger and booked it anyway, 1. because of the cheap price and 2. the central location for the island tours. …

An outdated hotel that hasn't been renovated for a long time. The homepage still advertises a restaurant and beer garden. Unfortunately, neither exists anymore. At breakfast time from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. very friendly staff are present to prepare the simple breakfast and possibly arrange arrival and departure. Outside of this time there are plenty of instruction sheets, a telephone number for emergencies and a box where you can find your room keys. Everything was clean and the breakfast staff was very friendly, but we actually had imagined something different for our stay.

We spontaneously decided that we wanted to go out to eat and stopped here. Large dining room. The space was used with millimeter precision. There is a special menu for children. What was funny was that we had three tickets and different prices. There is definitely a point deducted for value for money, as 50 cents were charged for requesting croquettes instead of fries. The ladies tried to be friendly, but unfortunately this attempt didn't quite work for one of the service staff. But that was just our feeling. Everyone sees it differently. All in all it was delicious.

We sat very close to the counter during dinner. When we waited for our food (1 hour), we experienced a lot of hecticness that we have never experienced before in a restaurant. Something fell to the ground three times during this time. 🙈 My pollock was good, but the fried potatoes next to it were far too little. I doubt whether the salmon was fresh because I found a piece of blue plastic film between the breading and the fish. This meant that the visit for dinner was not very pleasant for us☺️

Went there for dinner with 4 people. The service was very nice, but we waited a long time for our food (45 minutes). The food was ok but not outstanding, the price/performance ratio wasn't right given the quality. In addition, they weren't able to make our daughter a scoop of ice cream, only a whole sundae or nothing at all.

Our expectations weren't particularly high since we only paid €299 per person for the trip through Reise Aktuell. This included 5 nights with half board. The accommodation in the hotel was fine. The rooms were quite large and clean, although the bathroom was quite small. As far as the gastronomy is concerned, we unfortunately have to say that it wasn't that nice. Unfortunately, the quality of the two-course menus was more similar to that of a snack bar. The portions were barely enough for an adult. There was no alternative choice. You could just choose from the menu and then receive a €7 discount on the price. However, there were no dishes on the menu that were in this price range. For example, a vegetable pan with tagliatelle (which was large in terms of quantity) cost €15.80. Fresh ingredients didn't appear to have been used; it looked more like frozen food.Although children received the same daily specials, they were only granted a credit of €3.50 when choosing from the menu. Ironically, however, we had paid full price for the child! The breakfast was also quite modest. The first day there weren't even eggs. The rolls seemed to be baked and some were very, very crispy. The sausage selection remained constant, with cheese and various types of sausage. Sometimes there was salami one day, then liver sausage the next, or ham the next day. There was a lack of choice here and there. The staff could not be described as unfriendly, but rather as arrogant, overwhelmed and disorganized. It's a case of "take it or leave it".There is no dinner on Thursday, we knew that. You will then get €10 per person back from the hotel. However, here too the child only paid €5 even though we had paid the full amount for it. We survived and didn't starve. Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to do the Viking “adventure”.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Rooms are furnished normally, it was enough for us. Staff was very friendly and nice. Only there is no reception here, registration only takes place after dinner.
