Booked a room with my partner for Saturday night. Wasn't allowed to check in due to not having photo I.D. This policy was hidden away in the small print on the booking.com information we saw and so we lost the £75 we paid for the room. The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. Would never book with these guys in future and would advise against anyone else doing so. The Elephant and Castle had similar prices with none of the undue bias we were met with by the people at Citilodge, many other more suitable options in Wakefield. Don't give these people your money.

Stayed for two nights. Unfortunately no overnight / 24 hours parking. There is a Weatherspoons a short walk away for breakfast, evening meals etcThe room is smart and tidy, with a fridge, microwave, and a kettle. Though not much storage for clothing. The staff are friendly and polite and helpful

I'm not even joking, we was only there for the night and i Can say it's the worst place I've stayed at, shower not working (staff wasn't interested in sorting this out) asked for two beds only got a room with one bed, we wasn't told what time check out was just decided to open our door at 10am come in while where sleeping "wake up time to get out!".Worst of all came back to the hotel after a few hours out and junkies shooting up near building.Pay the extra 30-40quid guys and go somewhere else!!

It’s an absolute shocker of a hotel. Filthy rooms, worn out beds, stains and cigarette burns all over the furniture. It was a last resort, late night booking thanks to a calamitous error by Booking dot com. …

Don't leave any valuables in your room. There's a kettle but they don't have cups. No sugar, coffee or teabags and no towels. Showers are good though but ceilings are mouldy. Carpet was stained and so was quilt cover. It's a hostel not a hotel so don't expect a decent nights sleep.

Dreadful & felt unsafe - not recommended & wouldn't stay here again.I'm a business traveller as work in Wakefield two/three days a week, and this is probably one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in.I paid £45/night and was due to stay two nights, but decided to leave after one night and lose the price paid for the second night. Didn't even try to complain, as I'm sure it would be pointless.Positives: daily housekeeping, accessible location, price reasonable, microwave & small fridge available, free all day parking (although it'd be good if they advised of that rather than mislead guests saying there's no parking).Negatives: where to start! When checking in around 18.00, receptionist told me I would need to show proof of identity. I told her I didn't think I had any on me & rarely get asked for ID when travelling for business in the UK, so was surprised at the request. I then told her I'd check in the car if I had my driving licence with me, but she advised that she couldn't check me in without ID. I then advised that my car was parked 15 mins away, as the hotel advises there's no parking and I'd parked close to my workplace. She shrugged, so I went out to do the 30-min round trip to see if I had my driving licence in my car. A security guard then ran out to tell me that the receptionist had forgotten to advise that I could park at the hotel parking lot for free all day, which was great but not as stated in the advert. I then walked to my car & back without ID, as I realised I didn't have it with me. When I got back after the 30-min walk, I told the receptionist that I'd stay somewhere else & could she give me a number or e-mai for formal complaints. She then asked why I wanted to complain, and I explained that I found it unacceptable that I couldn't stay at the hotel without showing ID. She then backed off & said she hadn't told me I couldn't stay, but that she'd have to call head office to find a compromise. She then saw I had a work ID badge over my neck & then said that would serve as proof of ID, making out that I was making a big deal out of nothing. She made a photocopy of my work ID badge. She then gave me my room access card & my room was on a 3rd floor without lift, as it was out of order - I've recently had keyhole meniscus surgery on my left knee & had quite a bit of luggage, so that was interesting so say the least. The room was ok - faced a roof so quite a sorry sight out of the window, no soap or handwash so I couldn't go to the bathroom without going to a local supermarket to buy some soap. Very basic furnishings although it did have microwave + fridge + cutlery/plates, which was a plus. Bed was comfortable and spacious.I saw some very strange-looking people staying & hovering around the hotel, so had the impression that it might be used for questionable activities, let's say.It also felt really unsafe to escape from in case of fire.I checked out after the first night as I didn't want to spend a second night in this place.Avoid like the plague if you're a decent human being.

Absolutely horrendous. I stayed here with my partner on the 1st floor. Our time here was awful. There was a large amount of drug dealing taking place within the hotel and outside. Everyday there was Police & Ambulances outside. …

It's in the centre of town and It's like a Travelodge. What's there to say really. It's what you'd expect tbh, clean modern rooms, staff are nice, 24hr reception and and 2 security guards 24/7 give piece of mind (so losing keys or leaving items like laptop etc in your room help make your stay worry free)Good value for money
