We stayed here in 2010, and had not any bad issues during our stay. The room was very tiny, but who cares, as we were the whole time outside and came only to rest. And it is very near to Hide Park and all the public transportations and the price was fair. We mostly get everywhere by foot. We liked the breakfast, it was a typical English breakfast and tasted great. The neighbourhood was lovely.

We had very pleasant stay as family of 4 with 2 young children. Nice warm and clean place. Slightly on small side, but this is normal for hotels of this type considering location. Very good price for location! Good complimentary breakfast too and very friendly staff. Only slight criticism windows really need upgrading. As the hotel is located on a busy street understandably there is a bit of noise, so double glazing really should be a must. Otherwise all good, very happy guests.

Location was convenient and this was definitely one of the cheapest places we could find to stay near Central London. We arrived well before check-in and were able to leave our bags at the hotel until check-in time. The staff were pleasant. The lobby had an off-putting vibe - there was a security guard guarding the bathrooms and it looked like there was an office space created in the main area. Our room, which was like a suite or apartment, did not have air conditioning or fans. It looked like it was being maintained by a DIYer - the floors were in rough shape and there was some sort of exposed electric panel. The wifi was nearly unusable as the signal was so weak and intermittent. When we arrived no one told us we would need to flip a switch to turn on the refrigerator so we had to throw out some food we put in there. A week before our stay they let us know they would not be offering breakfast service but would instead offer grab-and-go breakfast bags. This was fine except that after the first day they ran out of juice and gave my children coffee drinks. For most of the night we could hear folks from the neighborhood hanging out in the parking lots. It was loud - there were kids crying and at one point we heard a man get attacked by a dog.I guess we got what we paid for - it was still expensive by my standards but not by London standards. I don't think I would stay there again, but it didn't spoil our trip to London.

AVOID - YOU’LL ONLY GET CANCELLED ONBooked well in advance and got a great price. Only to then get an email a few weeks before saying we we’re being cancelled as the hotel will be “temporarily closed”.A few days prior to our booking I have called the hotel and they are very much open and booking people in at many times the price we paid.Might as well just auction the rooms off to the highest bidder on the day. Horrible business practice. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

The room was very small and you could hear the noise outside and your neighbours. The front is nice but room area and lifts are fairly run down. You have to hand your key in to the front desk each time you leave the hotel. It was quite cold in my room and I couldn't get my central heating to work. The staff are nice though and it is a very central location. Good if youre not in your room much.

Came to meet a guest downstairs to pick up donations as they were moving out of their room here. I was dressed modestly and waited by the door in noone's way. The way the security guard ran outside with a smirk on his face asking me why I was standing there. I was already uncomfortable as this hotel and several other corners on Sussex Gardens always have corner women working at night, it is very obvious as the cars pull up. To assume that I was one and to continue talking to me as if I was and he came in and out to stand and watch me 3 times.... Even though he saw me interacting with the guest and he could see I was only taking donations.

Very well situated in near Paddington station. Very close to underground which is by far the best way to get around London. The rooms are clean well laid out if a bit on the small side. But serve their purpose why enough. Their is no hot breakfast which was disappointing. Their are place that do all day breakfasts nearby.Overall the staff are friendly and helpful it is an enjoyable experience.

Wouldn’t waste your money - stay elsewhere! Guy on reception was creepy. Rooms were tiny. Shower head bolted at an angle, could only use if your body was pressed up against the wall, no water pressure. Vanity so little and low it was made for kids but with the water pressure of a fire hose. Couldn’t sit on the toilet and get toilet paper at the same time. Paper thin walls, heard the neighbours every time the peed. Bed was about as comfortable as the door path. Ended up leaving early. Only positive is the location to Paddington Station and bus routes!

Fantastic location BUT considering how famous the British are for their tea, this was the worst cup of tea ever. We had to pay for breakfast for the total day, and after the first day asked for a refund which they would not give. Room VERY small with wooden legs on the twin beds which we banged our toes on many occasions when trying to get to the tiny wardrobe where we shared 5 coat hangers!!! No drawers just a shelf. No room for cases or bags apart from behind the door and 1 tiny shelf in the bathroom for all toiletries. I asked for an extra pillow but did not receive - too busy chatting!! Curtains did not close all the way across the window so there was a gap. The room was not ready so we could put our luggage in a small luggage room where it was a free for all. No security as they handed anyone the key. Came home early on our leaving day as I did not trust this.

The worst experience of my life. Our first night at the hotel was quite an eye opener not just the noise but other matters! We had to stay in the reception area until the hotel manager came in. We found cockroaches in our shower room, the night manager offered us another room, above the room we just vacated, we declined the offer. Whilst we were sitting in reception, we noticed two women (who came in off the street) using the toilet often and chatting with the night manager. Incidently, on one of their visits to the hotel, one of them went upstairs with a man. The reception toilet was used by the same woman when she came back down about half an hour later. We had no choice but to use the toilet a good while after, this is when we found a plastic wrapper in the sink. We informed the night manager, when she next came in, he told her to get out, it was obvious, going by her expression, it was for our benefit. The hotel obviously allows non paying guests of all varieties! The cleaner quickly cleaned this up before the manager came in.When speaking with the manager in the morning, the cockroach part was quickly dismissed, even though photographic proof was provided. The CCTV can prove the rest, he seemed to take heed of his other non paying guests!!Please beware! The one star is so I can alert people. If cockroaches and people can come in off the street without any health and safety measures in place for the hotel guests, then do you really want to stay here. I feel I need to end this with something positive. Ideal location when in another hotel in this area. London is also a fantastic place!!!
