My experience was very different to a lot of the reviews here which is due to a late check in time.At the time of booking on booking.com, I added it as a special request that I will check in between 10-11pm. The reply was it will be fine, get in touch with the property so someone would allow us in. Otherwise I would have cancelled the booking. On the day, our flight was delayed by about 2h. As soon as I found out at the airport, I got in touch with Andy who asked to call them when we reach so somebody can let us in. There was no mention that they may not be around at this time. Instead of 8.30pm, we collected our rental car at around 10.45pm. I called Andy to advise we will be there in 25 minutes, to which he replied it's totally fine. Then 5 minutes later, we get a call to say they will not be able to let us in until 00.10. I do understand sometimes emergency situation comes along, but it doesn't make any sense that in 5 minutes the whole situation changed and Andy could not give a reason why this has happened. He kept insisting I should have checked in by 9pm and they had been waiting for us. This cannot be true as by 5pm, I had advised we would not be reaching before 11 and if it's okay. If it was an issue, he should have raised it and I would have booked an alternative place. It's also not acceptable that a host makes you wait 1h, for no obvious reason or cannot specify why other than "things just happen". Personally, we felt like it was done because we came late and they had to wait for us. I was apologetic all the way and communication was clearly bad.Overall, very bad start to our holiday given the flight delays and then hosts who tell us 5 minutes before checking in that we have to wait 1h. This is probably a one-off situation, as if somebody checks in before the time limit of 9pm, it would not be an issue. But anyone whose flight lands 1-2hour before the check-in time, please be careful if your flights are delayed as there's a risk you will be made to wait. The rooms were clean and nice but a bit small. The bathroom was quite small and it was hard to move around. The breakfast was very nice.

One of the warmest welcomes and most pleasant stays that I've had at a B&B. Owners were friendly and relaxed. Room was clean, modern and bed was very comfortable - we also booked the en-suite, so no need to share. …

Andy and his partner were both very welcoming. They have a lovely home. I used the double room with en suite during my stay and it was very well furnished and decorated. The breakfast in the morning was superb value. Perfect location for anyone working down the docks.
