Great, affordable hostel near downtown Manchester. Visited this and the London Central YHA while on vacation, and I'd much prefer this location. Beds and sheets were clean, the bathroom in the room is a bonus, and there's dedicated storage for your carry on, as well as enough space under the bed for bigger luggage. Staff were great as well as the cold breakfast. Overall, would recommend to a group of four wanting to vacation at Manchester.

Clean and quite, I booked a dorm room for myself and a mate, and we where pleasantly surprised we were only sharing with two other people, and we had our own shower/toilet between the four of us.There was an issue with the shower being stuck on hot, which between reporting and fixing was done in 30 minutes.Staff were great.

The room we stayed was great clean, and spacious. Had enough room for four people. We had 2 quadrants as there were 6 of us and it was comfy. The location is the right distance away from the centre far enough to not be disturbed by any noise but close enough to walk.

I stayed here for 2 nights in the tail end of summer and while I don’t have anything necessarily bad to say I wasn’t overly impressed and don’t think I’d consider going back. Staff were nice so there’s that. The continental breakfast was easily the worst thing I consumed on my entire trip, the eggs must have been sitting there for hours and we’re basically rubber and inedible, hash browns were also overcooked and dry and the sausage had no flavour to it, terrible food for the price. The layout of the hostel is very strange and the “bar” was laughable. Basically just a proper bar with some bean bags chairs tucked in the corner. If anyone’s in there you feel like you’re intruding them in their living room. Not a social hostel by any means as there’s no activities that would tie you to talk to the fellow hostel goers. The rooms are fine for what it’s worth but there’s absolutely no privacy as there’s no curtains. The room was also extremely humid being beside the canal and me and my roommates would often complain about waking up being drenched in sweat (keep in mind it was around 18-20 degrees and overcast a majority of the trip, I can only imagine how bad it gets in peak summer.) Very frustrating to get my luggage in and out of the room to the lobby as you’re either faced with endless stairs or a super narrow and painfully slow elevator that only fits one person. The area isn’t the best in terms of being close to things, central enough to catch a train but not walking distance to any good restaurants or sights to see.To sum it up it’s good for the budget conscious traveler but if more options are available consider those. Personally I won’t be back if I’m ever back in Manchester.

The hostel is an easy walk from the station. It has an interesting area to explore around it with the canal and some beautiful bridges. The rooms were lovely with a shower room and toilet. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is great with a wonderful games area and downstairs ablutions. There is also a lift to go upstairs. The food and drinks available are great value for money as is the optional breakfast

I stayed at this place for 2 nights in a dorm room for 4. Comfortable beds, enough space for storing luggage and clean ensuite bathroom/shower.The ladies at the reception were quite friendly and helpful.Overall a good stay. Highly recommend.Only thing I'd suggest is adding curtains to the beds for privacy.

I stayed a couple of nights for the green party conference a mile up the road and, as a big fan of the YHA, wasn't disappointed. It was one of the more expensive stays I've enjoyed in their hostels, but it's central Manchester (pretty much) and was competitive. It's very modern, clean, and an easy walk into town

Not much things to complain, everything was upto standard, clean and tidy. Reception was nice and helpful. The only thing was if there is a chair inside the room will be much better. …

I've had hit and miss experiences with YHA but I'm pleased to say I really enjoyed my stay here. I was in a four-bed dorm over Creamfields and it was absolutely the right decision given the unpredictable weather! …

Decent hostel near the Industrial revolution museum , 30 minutes walking from the train station 🚉 Service was good. Storage room for luggage has a fob that anyone has access to it, so not very safe. You might consider using a safer storage somewhere else. Breakfast is not recommended. It was cold and not nice at all.
