We stayed here 6 years ago and were delighted to see how well it had been maintained over that time. My Hubby booked it as a treat after a disastrous caravan holiday and what a blessing it was. …

Didn't have the best start to our short stay in the Altens as the male receptionist was not at all friendly on arrival, However we didn't see him again the rest of our stay and other members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable but chilly so I was glad I'd brought warm clothing. We couldn't get the heating to work and it was rather noisy when on. Luckily there was a bath to warm up in. I'm gluten and dairy free and was well looked after in the restaurant. My cooked breakfast was cooked separately to avoid cross contamination and I enjoyed an asparagus and pea risotto for dinner. The leisure facilities were great. A decent length swimming pool and a lovely hot Jacuzzi. There was a charge for parking in the hotel car park but it was only £3 a day. I'm surprised it's not included in the cost of the room. Hefty fines if you forget to pay. All in all a decent enough stay but lacked the coziness and personal touch of a smaller hotel.

Booked in again after about a year as was a bit shabby last time, but we liked the pool. Everything seemed uplifted, the staff were great and the room was immaculate. Even the very good pool, sauna and steam room seemed brand new. Well done and thanks for a delicious breakfast too.

We had a great stay with a very comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. Great meal in the restaurant with a great choice of food. The only down side for my husband was all of the beer pumps at the bar were out of action but they did have choice of bottled beers.

Excellent food, good leisure facilities and very pleasant staff. Location not the best as next to an Industrial Estate.Usually quite, except sometimes children running wild, of course, the responsibility of their parents, in some cases, grandparents.

The rooms were nice. Older perhaps, but roomy. Mine had 2 beds, a desk, and recliner. No AC but the windows open and I wasn’t hot during my stay. No fridge or microwave, I did miss that. Several of my lights flickered and another in my party had similar small issues … as well as one who complained his room was quite noisy (neighboring rooms), so older but okay.Breakfast was okay. All you can eat and some things were quite nice but others were just okay. The scrambled eggs they ran out of a lot and weren’t quite the right texture. The pancakes too - another in my party tried them and I felt like needing to apologize as I hadn’t warned them after I had them the day before. But it was all edible and generally okay. Maybe not worth the cost but it was convenient so I was glad I had it.Location isn’t great for dining options. There’s just the restaurant in the hotel, a Burger King, and a gas station nearby. Without a car, I think £4 round trip bus to town. The next closest restaurant might be 1 or 1.5 km away, each way.But the hotel has a nice hiking path nearby that can lead to the coastal trail which can be more than 4 km each way for someone who wanted a long scenic walk. And there’s a pool and a full gym as well. So a few things to do just at the hotel.

My recent stay at Aberdeen Altens Hotel was an absolutely fantastic experience, all thanks to their exceptional team and high standards of service. From the moment we checked in, Noot and Anna made us feel warmly welcomed, setting the tone for a delightful visit. The evening service team – Holly, Marianna, Chloe, Carol, Charlotte, Kiera, and Erin – provided top-notch care, attending to every detail with friendliness and efficiency. In the morning, the breakfast team, including Suzanna, Haroon, Thalia, and Lynn, ensured we started our day with a delicious spread and attentive service. Kenan deserves a special mention as well for taking care of all our needs during our training meeting, creating a stress-free environment that allowed us to focus completely.Their manager, Liam, went above and beyond to make us feel at home, treating us like royalty while never sacrificing the hotel’s welcoming charm. This incredible atmosphere is clearly a reflection of the outstanding leadership of General Manager Kris Manship, whose hands-on approach and dedication are evident in every part of the hotel’s operation. The rooms and amenities were superb – spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend Aberdeen Altens to anyone visiting the area, whether for business or leisure, and I’ll certainly be back!

Hotel was very good but food in restaurant disaster. 'Chilli prawn tagliatelle' should be with king prawns but was with cocktail prawns and only 3 for whole plate and £18. One big joke. 8oz Rib eye steak medium rare was the bigest mistake. Wasting time and money!!!!!
