So this really is a Travelodge... or should I say it's very basic but it works, well most of it... the lift wasn't working on this visit and my room was on the top 4th floor and the ceiling heights are big! So lots of steps and a serious consideration of you are less mobile.I was in a rush booking this hotel and didn't check any reviews before booking... breakfast was included but there are no eating areas... so breakfast comes in a box, including milk. And to be fair as continental breakfasts go it was basic and functional.Reception is behind a perspex screen and the staff are pleasant and friendly.Room was hot and with no heating on and the windows were both open..Also comes with a fan in the roomBed and pillows are comfortable and shower is a good size with plenty of hot water. If you want cheap and central then this works. To have a nice breakfast go to one of the near by coffee shops which are plentiful and have tables and chairs 😜

Stated at this travel lodge for 2 nights. Its a very average budget hotel. The bed was comfy but it was quite noisy during the night because there is a pub right outside. You can also hear people in the other rooms. …

A clean and comfortable room. Very friendly staff (Joan on reception was very welcoming and helpful). |A shame that the lift was not working. |A perfect location in the heart of the city centre.|Quite expensive for Travelodge as they used to be such great value.

Us 3 friends had a lovely time at Travelodge, Rose Street, Edinburgh. The receptionist, Olena, was exceptionally nice and friendly and really helpful to us. Two of us had health issues and she went out of her way to get us a room on 2nd floor rather then 4th floor as the lift had not worked for a few months.

Choose for the central location, but be aware that there are a noisy pub on the side of the hotel. We stayed in a family room which smelled moldy and I'm pretty sure mold spots had been painted over in the bathroom... the desktop fan just barely made it feel like there were air in the room.I won't be returning to this hotel and I would not recomend it to anyone else.

Does what it’s meant to its clean quiet and its rooms are acceptable. Joan on reception was exceptionally helpful and considerate. |Without her help I would have been seriously inconvenienced. |Would use again it was an acceptable standard.

Excellent location and staff polite and helpful. We stayed in a room for three adults and it was huge. Not the cleanest, the bedsheets smelt really bad of smoke. Outside was very noisy during the night and we barely slept. Although the location is good I wouldn’t stay here again.

Best thing about the place: the location. The "okay" things:The cleaniness is not excellent but not awful.Only one big towel per person and one small for the room without any carpet for the bathroom. The bad things:No luggage storage so either you pay a private service elsewhere (the train stations don't have that anymore so don't count on it) either you pay for an early check-in (our room wasn't ready but for £15 they can make one clean room appear apparently).Unlike what it says on the Maps description, there is no kitchen (so no restaurant and their option for breakfast is a "to-go" one you have to order the day before) and the "free" WiFi is only for 30 minutes per device for the whole stay. The lift is out of order and by reading reviews here it has been months, it seems. Fortunately, we had a room on the first floor but now I get to tell you about the worst thing...Room 111 is to avoid! The room is directly above a bar with loud music until 1 AM. We could recognize every songs and if not, we could search them easily given that we were able to hear every lyrics. We were fortunate to come by the room at 6 PM and be able to swing by a Boots to buy some ear plugs. That and our exhaustion were the only things that permitted us to sleep. After reading other reviews, we didn't bother to complain because they clearly know the problem and don't do anything about it.We were so happy to stay just for one night!

I spent two nights here during my solo trip to Edinburgh. For the price you pay, this is a clean, no-frills hotel that gets the job done. As I was out and about all day, I did not mind missing amenities that are included with other hotels, such as pre-packaged shampoo and conditioner, a refrigerator, and storage space. The bed was GREAT. It was the best comforter I've had in a hotel. They also provide a desk fan if you want a bit of white noise to go to sleep to. You could hear the occasional passerby talking and laughing, but that's to be expected when you are on such a busy street. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always willing to help. When I arrived, their lift was out of service, so their security guard walked my bags up to my room on the second floor. The lift was fixed by the next day.
