Nice pub/hotel in centre of town only 10 minutes walk from Braintree train station. My room was comfortably with all amenities. Rooms cleaned every day, staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again

My family and I recently stayed at the White Hart Hotel and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, there were numerous issues that made our stay uncomfortable and unpleasant.First and foremost, despite booking as a family, we were assigned rooms that did not connect. This meant that my partner and I were separated from each other and had to take turns looking after our children. This arrangement was highly inconvenient and detracted from the enjoyment of our trip.The lack of elevators made navigating the hotel with luggage and children particularly challenging. Additionally, the rooms we were allocated were plagued with issues. They emitted unpleasant odours, were poorly ventilated, and had bathrooms covered in mould. The overall cleanliness left much to be desired, and the limited parking only added to the inconvenience.Furthermore, the comfort of the accommodations was severely lacking. The sofa bed provided for our son was terribly uncomfortable, with noticeable springs poking through. Adding to the discomfort, we were subjected to the sound of real-life birds from neighbouring rooms, which was unexpected and disruptive.The inability to properly open windows for ventilation made the rooms feel stuffy and claustrophobic, further adding to the sensation of being confined. Moreover, the noise from the surrounding area permeated the rooms, making it difficult to rest or relax.Despite these numerous disappointments, we must acknowledge the commendable efforts of the staff, who were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, their efforts were not enough to salvage our overall impression of the hotel.In conclusion, our experience at the White Hart Hotel was far from satisfactory. We cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others. For a more comfortable and enjoyable stay, we advise exploring alternative accommodations, such as the nearby Travel Lodge.

Love the white hart Hotel. All staff are amazing. Scott bring joy to the pub and has positive attitude. Service is good. Hotel rooms are suitable, beds are comfy and a good work shower

A lovely traditional british pub/hotel with a friendly service. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is very good with lots of fresh and delicious things to choose from a buffet and menue to order. The pub is also great for lunch and dinner and it's nice to meet with friends for a drink. We will surely come back again.

I stayed here because because my auntie lives near Braintree when l first checked in the room was lovely 30 minutes later the fire alarm activated because an idiot kept the shower on hot so l evacuated and it was cold then l went to order some food, it only took 3 hours to get there

Very rude and disrespectful restaurant manager ruined our Christmas break.We were first in the restaurant at 5.30pm and as soon as we walked in the restaurant the manager was unpleasant.My wife asked him nicely on 2 occasions to play Christmas music but he flatly refused saying he was sick of Christmas music and didn't like it so he would not put it on.Really!!We had never experienced rudeness like this before in a hotel/restaurant and this caused my wife to cry.When a lovely waitress brought our food she could see we were unhappy and the restaurant manager came over and nastily said Okay Okay I will put Christmas music on.He never came back to apologise or ask how we were.After dinner we spoke to Chantel a hotel manager who said she would speak to the restaurant manager about his rudeness and total lack of customer service and she told us Christmas music should be played from December 1st anyway and we were there December 13-14.The hotel was decorated inside and out for Christmas so set up for a nice Christmas experience.We have stayed here several times before and I have given 5 star reviews previously.Next morning at breakfast we were sitting for 30 minutes before a Christmas song was played.Chantel was not at work that morning so I emailed her and told her we were very unhappy with our Christmas stay.We exchanged several emails and she said our experience was not the hotels fault but the restaurants.I told her everything was done through the hotel and I believe the hotel should show a goodwill gesture for our awful experience and I await an agreeable response from the hotel otherwise we will not come back.

Love the White Hart with its 15th century charm. Comfortable beds and unbeatable staff. Scott and co. are superb. Extensive menus. Breakfast is hearty but you might find it not included in the room price. It has had a thorough redecoration inside and out which also helped.

Stayed in a single room which is average/tired but it seems like the speaker playing music in the bar below is immediately under the room so its really noisy despite not being that loud in the bar area.Can still name the tune at 11.30 pm ! Service at bar was good given it was very busy with a christmas party too .Menu was poor and bar area looked old/tired so ate elsewhere. Wont be staying again .

It was so cold inside, we had booked a table in the restaurant but it was so cold we moved to the bar which wasn't any warmer, we took our coats of to eat but put them on again straight after. The food want great either, it came out luke warm and the hunters chicken was so hard at each end I couldn't get the knife through it. Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience
