We stayed in the cottage near thr main house and loved it! So cosy and inviting, a fireplace in the living room with a small but all you need kitchen leading off it. A luxurious bathroom and twin room also downstairs, another twin and a large double upstairs, which had a single bed tucked into the corner too. Plenty of parking outside. Walks straight from the door into Buttermere or Crummock, a hikers paradise!

What a beautiful wkd we have just had. We stayed in the cottage and had a very warm welcome from Tony. The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed.The location takes your breath away, with views across Crummock waters and your own private access to the lake a short walk down the hill. Lovely 10 minute walk into buttermere village. I would highly recommend Woodhouse and will absolutely be returning.

You couldn't get a more idyllic place to stay. The rooms are clean and cosy with a breath taking view and the host, Tony, goes over and above to ensure your needs are met. Highly recommended.

Stayed here in August with my daughter. Super cozy with amazing service and breakfasts by Jules. The walk to the pub through the forest, around the lake and past the sheep pasture was gorgeous. Highly recommend staying here if you are hiking in the area.

Lovely location with easy access to the lake. Amazing view from our room. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room.Very good breakfast. Guests should note that the toiletries are only liquid hand wash, bath soak and shower gel. I was surprised that hair shampoo, conditioner and a facial soap are not supplied nor a flannel.Previous reviews praised the friendliness of the host however, although he was in residence, he did not put in an appearance, even a few minutes at breakfast would have been appreciated.

Amazing location, with very friendly owners and staff. Building age limits the facilities available, but the access to Crummock Water and Buttermere makes us forgive that. Tasty breakfasts, good coffee. Just be careful turning into that very narrow gateway!Ask for directions to Buttermere. Without a map, it’s not as obvious as some think ;-)

I booked this cottage through Airbnb. Unfortunately i missed the writing the review there (Airbnb have a 14 day review period after your stay) so using google to detail our experience.Our experience was nothing short of spectacular. Although not the best season to book this cottage (late Autumn), we enjoyed our break immensely. The cottage is picture perfect. Nestled next to lake and mountains, it cannot get more scenic than this. Tony the owner is wonderful. He attended to all our needs be it fixing the internet or ringing the motor boat companies on our behalf. He even offered to let us use his canoe/kayak.There are no grocery shops near the cottage. The closest is around 8-10 miles. Throughout our stay there, we had no mobile signals. It wasn't a problem for us as relied on the WIFI and 4G on our phones.We had to change our plans due to the lockdown announcement. Without hesitation, Tony agreed to the refund and changed our dates. Overall, this is one place that our family will most definitely book again.
