Cheap and cheerful and close to town , however the Cold tap did not work for the bath and the hot tap was like a kettle , also hairs in the bath , like sleeping in a greenhouse too with an annoying “white noise” sound going 24-7 Then again I did only pay £40 so you get what you pay for , I likely would not stay here again , However the Gentleman is reception was lovely and really helpful spoke to him for ages good laugh too :)

It is it glamorous? - NoIs it cheap and close enough to walk into town- YES.I stayed for one night as a break from traveling and was more then satisfied with the hotel and room. Yes the place is rough as toast but if you are looking for somewhere warm and dry then this place is fine. My room was clean, tv worked and shower and bath tub were clean. I will certainly stay here again.

Just what it says on the tin great for work stop overs plenty of free parking and check in was faultless. Dee the receptionist was very helpful and professional with a smile. |If I am in Carlisle again with work would definitely stay here. Few places to eat very close by

Had been up since 6am ridden from Exeter to Carlisle as stop over before heading home on my motorcycle holiday morning been hard 6 hours riding in rain got to hotel sign out front was different from the booking name don’t know why never found out anyway goes into hotel already bit annoyed after finding out sign was clearly wrong second walked in door I could smell damp the carpet walls reception were disgustingly vile guy behind desk was nice helpful clearly needed payed more working in this dump of a place anyway got my room key went to room on way there was buckets in hall catching water leaking in from the roof so that’s were damp smell was coming from it smelled like 1980s old peoples home hills have eyes version use ur imagination anyway am rambling got into the room mould all over walls tied mark in bath looked like room out inbtwneers only shit on floor was going cheer this place up looked be bed bugs on bed I never stayed long enough find out left room jumped back my bike sent it home 730 miles one day on off-road style bike that let you know how pissed off I was at room endless say Hamilton service Mac Donald’s were I started to calm down lol rant over avoid this place like plague pay £20 find better hotel

Unsafe and Deceptive – Milton Hotel (Ox Hotel) Arriving at the Milton Hotel, falsely advertised as the Ox Hotel, was a relief only because we had mistakenly booked the wrong night. The place stank of smoke, and groups of men gathered outside made me uncomfortable from the moment we pulled up. Although I was promised a refund, after weeks of chasing, they refused to honor it. The worst part? They probably rented out the room again, making money twice. This hotel is not suitable for families, solo female travelers, or anyone sensitive to strong smells and smoke. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel is close to supermarkets Asda, Lidl, B&M, fast food and cafes KFC, Costa. The parking lot is very spacious, there is a place for smokers outside. I found it clean, including the room, I stayed for two nights and after one night already I received clean towels. I recommend the location, it has very reasonable accommodation rates

Be aware I have referred to it as the OX Hotel as that was the name we had it booked under but it also goes by the Swallow Hilltop and Milton Hilltop. Arrived with a lot of caution after reading some of the horror reviews and thought they can’t be as bad as people were saying.WE WERE WRONG IT WAS WORSE!Blood stains on the sheets! Carpet looked like it hadn’t seen a vacuum in a very long time. Rubbish left on window sill and in bin and it smelt of stale wee and sick. We decided there was no way we were staying here so went down to reception and told them we were leaving. Only positive I can give is we were refunded despite having a non-refundable booking which sort of suggests they accepted that it was totally unacceptable.

Arrived at the Ox Hotel slightly skeptical following bad reviews… room stank of pee/vomit, crumbs and wrappers on the floor, and blood stains on the sheet! We didn’t stay and when we complained to the receptionist, they were not shocked!!!

When we arrived the car park was practically empty so we were slightly worried when we arrived to our room we realised why , the sheets had blood on them , the floors were covered in crumbs and the room smelled like pee and vomit , we couldn’t stay as the smell was so bad and it was so unclean !

Arrived at the hotel skeptical about the other poor reviews. Barely any cars parked in the car park, looked like a crackhouse before we walked in. We didn’t originally take our bags into the hotel as we didn’t know if we would stay. After checking in, the reception seemed fine so we gave it ago. As soon as you walk into the room, the smell hits you, pee, vomit and damp. When walking around the room, you’ll soon find a hole in the wall, wrappers and crumbs left on the floor, and the worst part, blood stains on the sheet! Obviously we did not stay, after 20 minutes we checked out, and when explaining the issues to the receptionists, they did not at all seem remorseful or shocked, one of which looked extremely sheepish. We asked for a refund in which we got a reply of ‘We will pass it to the general manager, but he’s not in today’ - very convenient! Instead of staying here in Carlisle, we have booked a place in Dumfries so I hope that shows how bad it was. We’d rather go quite a way away rather than stay at this disturbing and utterly filthy establishment. 0/10.

Paid £50 for double room and well worth it. We stayed at this hotel years ago under a different company and improvements have been made. It is a no frills, clean throughout, friendly staff and we will be going back. £50 for double ensuite room, can't complain, correctly priced.
