Booked last minute to get out of the campervan for a couple nights and have a proper bed / room to sleep in. Was surprised to find I was the only one there considering many tourists were still around. I had stayed there about 8 years ago with the previous owner and had fond memories. Unfortunately this time round was not the same. The beds have this very thin foam pad (more like a mattress topper) rather than a proper mattress which is extremely uncomfortable and sore to sleep on. The room I was in had a very small heater which even on full didn't give out hardly any heat meaning that because it was a clear night, it got very cold inside. The shower head was broken. Overall the bunkhouse was clean but looked very deflated and a lot of the nice homely touches, lamps, seats, throws from last time had been removed. It felt like all the life had been sucked out of the place. Because of the cold and "mattress" I barely slept and had to leave after one night. I let the owner know and gave him feedback directly but he got defensive.A shame because it's a beautiful spot / view and with a bit of TLC and knowing that tourism on Skye is year round, there's no reason why a little bit of sprucing up and investment could lead to the place being a great place to stay and booked out each nignt. My feeling is that only the bare minimum is being done and the owner is happy with sporadic bookings.

Perfect accommodation and experience for excellent value for money. The wigwam is very comfortable and spacious, with everything you need (kettle, fridge). The common areas are well maintained. The location is perfect, away from tourist areas.

We stayed 4 nights in a double room. Shelter standard. The electric heater in the room passed the test on a cold night (0-5C). Clean. We lacked nothing. The owner is great, thank you for your hospitality and help. We were lucky with the people staying there. There were families with small children and couples. Thank you for your valuable advice from Steve (mountain guide) and the climbing team.

Great little bunkhouse. I stayed for 4 nights in one of the wigwams. Really clean, warm and well maintained. Had its own heater, microwave, kettle and fridge however there is a well presented kitchen in the main bunkhouse as well. Dave was really helpful and clearly passionate about the bunkhouse and guests. Showers were lovely and there are also several toilets, a drying room and sofa area. I’d defo recommend staying for a quality stay at competitive price. Talisker Distillery is just down the road and a lovely small port at the end of the road.

Had a great four nights at Croft Bunkhouse. We had booked the twin room in the hostel but Dave very kindly put us in bothy beag as the weather for the week was a bit wild and it was easier to heat up than the big hostel common area. It was comfortable, cosy, spotlessly clean and had everything we could need cooking wise. The views are gorgeous and it's in a good location for exploring the island. 10/10 would recommend.

Now I'm not one for bad reviews, but I think there's room for improvement here. With good communication in the lead up and accommodating our changing needs, I was optimistic.  …

Two of us stayed in a wigwam for five nights, which came with its own small fridge, microwave and kettle. Common shared kitchen was well equipped, living room spacious, bathrooms were clean as well as cleaned every couple of days. Dave was very welcoming and nice. He lent us cooking oil when we didn't have it, and when we shortened our stay by a night, he only charged us for how long we stayed. We had a good experience. Overall great value for money and great base for tackling the Cuilin Munros.
