BEDBUGS ALERT !!! I have bites all over my arms. I really hope my kids don't get any !!! If it were just for the room, I would say barely ok for 1 night, but it is small and the hygiene is apparently not the priority of the managers. Disappointed.

me and 5 other friends stayed two nights in the spunkhouse. Don't be fooled by the name this place is great. The kind owner gave us a room upgrade with an extra triple bunk bed with only minor poo stains on it. The carpet was majestically nailed together and the lack of extractor fans built a good homely smell. The integration of chipboard and potatoe sacks on the walls give it a rustic but comforting feel. The hole in the ceiling made for a morning breeze like no other. The lack of seating and a table brought us closer together. The 3 different jet settings in the shower cleaned places that have never been cleaned. Genuinely the location was amazing right next to the co op and the sea. Be careful there's a homeless man pressuring for ÂŁ20 lurking by the atm. Don't worry we learnt from our first mugging! There were even free snacks, pre-chewed chewing gum upon my friends bed, but make sure to now touch the brick wall as it lightly crumbles, meaning I frequently woke up with rubble on my pillow. Each movement on the mattress sounded like i was in a trampoline park, filling me with childish joy. All jokes aside, very good for the price, 2min from beach right next to co op and town center. Biggest positive is the owners hospitality, he let us check in 2 hours early and leave our bags until our trains arrive. One night i was feeling pretty ill but there was a mouldy tissue in the wall which comforted me. My mate whose a potato loved the material on the wall as they resemble sacks of such. Owner has refined taste in art as there is a square of sack hanging above the old fireplace. Not to mention the fiberglass bursting through the wall next to my bed. It's evident that effort is put into reducing the amount of floor space, the ash can in the middle of the floor gives it a homely vibe. Door was screwed on allowing gaps for peeping tom's to peer at your excreting self. There was a fridge it was pretty cold, thankfully everything put in it gets a layer of condensation. You get what you pay for, thank you for giving us an unforgettable experience

Arrived for a stag weekend at the Spunkhouse, upon entering I was very surprised the hostel takes the green/decarbonization agenda to the next level, bean sacks for flooring, washed up chipboard and timber from the beach used for the Spunkbeds, mattress taken from a local homeless guy. I had the bottom spunk with my own onsuite 🤦. hot and cold showers on demand, my only concern was no extractor fans to get rid of the Smell, however, when there's 10 of you 💩all the time, you can't blame the Spunkhouse.

I've stayed in the hilton many of times and would rate the spunkhouse 6* if I could, value for money is incredible. Definitely the most green hotel I've been in, they recycle and reuse almost anything. P.s if you're wondering why ply board is expensive the spunkhouse use a lot of it and this the reason it's sought after.
