The hotel is like a building site. Painters and decorators working amongst guests. Carpets up, health and safety signs at the entrance, wet paint signs, electricians opening up electrical cabinets and throwing fuse relays on the floor, working in the most untidy way, drilling , hammering etc etc

Hotel is undergoing renovation. But room was clean and staff very helpful. Wouldn't bother with the breakfast bag though. You have Greggs and Starbucks just 100 yards outside.

Honestly the worst travelodge I've ever stayed at!We were needing to stay for a family funeral with our dog so didn't want anything more than very basic. But even at basic level if I'm being charged money to stay somewhere I expect basic cleanliness!The carpets are filthy, the bathroom was so disgusting with rust dripping from the taps I refused to go anywhere near the bath and therefore didn't have a shower ... oh and there was a half full can of lager on the window sill when we checked in!Absolutely disgusting.

Room spacious, bed very comfortable, black out curtains. Decent size and quality tv. Good work surface for laptop, etc, and long mirror as well as wall mirror. Bathroom a little old but everything very clean. Reception staff very helpful.

If I could give negative stars I would. I believed a chain hotel would be a trustworthy option but I was VERY wrong! On arrival, I noticed the halls were very run down. Marks on walls, paint peeling off, carpets in need of hoovering etc but hoped it would not be the same situation in our rooms. How wrong I was. Heavily rusted taps, dirty bath, plug holes clogged with hair, layer upon layer of dust and dirt in corners, behind the toilet etc. I went to reception and asked to be moved to another room as that room was not worth the £130 we were charged for it! The young lady on reception apologised and assigned us a new room. Now whilst a smidge cleaner, it still was not acceptable. Electrics not working, one window cracked, the other had screws missing so not able to secure at all. Again rusty taps, filthy bath, dirty flooring. I returned to reception and said I wanted a full refund as the rooms were absolutely not acceptable to be renting out. The young lady on reception explained she was unable to issue a refund as I'd booked a saver rate. Saver rate or not, no-one should be expected to put their health at risk with the state of that hotel. I ensured the receptionist it wasn't her fault and asked if I could speak to a manager. No, apparently theyre on holiday and the on-call manager was at another site and wouldn't come. The poor receptionist has only worked there for 6months yet has been left alone to deal with it all. Shocking. I asked for the number for head office which I was provided with but as the receptionist was dealing with me, police officers arrived and shortly afterwards a body was removed from the hotel! On leaving the hotel, a dishevelled woman arrives with what looks like all her worldly goods in a trolley and she enters. Honestly the whole situation was surreal. I do NOT recommend at all. I cant advise strongly enough how you should NOT book this hotel. I've have sent a formal complaint, requesting a full refund. This hotel is unsafe and needs serious work to bring it back up to an acceptable standard. Since when was it too much to expect a clean room?! Room we viewed were 36, 207 & 209

Don’t get me wrong, 2 stars based on hotel itself. Staff were accommodating and friendly.I’ve never stayed in a travelodge so old and badly kept!The first room we checked into on the ground floor hit us in the face as soon as we opened the door with a horrible mouldy carpet smell. It was overwhelming, I asked front desk staff for a change as I explained the smell and she kindly moved me into the first floor. This room didn’t smell thankfully but the whole hotel is quite badly kept. On the first night we left the room and switched all the lights off, when we came back the lights were on but nothing was cleaned or changed, so very weird.Only stayed there for work but wouldn’t want to come back.Needs updating and maintenance ASAP

This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The cot they provided was so filthy I wouldnt even put my dog in it. The mattress was very badly soiled and the floor was filthy. If you value your health don't stay here

At lastI had the opportunity to stay at this establishment with my family. On the positive side, the parking facilities were sufficient, and the common areas were satisfactory. Regrettably, the room itself did not meet our expectations. The room was not adequately cleaned, with a visibly soiled carpet and the presence of mold in the bathroom. Furthermore, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and the room had an unpleasant odor. The handle on the main entrance was not properly secured due to missing screws. The hotel does not provide breakfast; instead, we were offered Starbucks or a gas station, or a breakfast box with juice, cornflakes, and a small cake. I will not stay in this hotel again.
