Absolutely beautiful, peaceful campsite. We stayed in one of the bell tents which have their own little circle with kitchen facilities, a fire pit and a barbecue. And a lovely little humpback bridge protecting the area from cars.Slight downside is you have to carry your stuff from the adjacent field but I think it's worth it for the protected beauty of the little copse. We were woken to the sound of dogs barking on one morning at 7am but I'm sure that was just a one-off.I'd have loved it if there were bags of logs available on an honesty basis. Or maybe we could have ordered a bag in advance. The one evening we really needed them, there were none. We drove to the local coop and they also had none.

Beautiful but quirky, spooky and unusual site! It felt quite odd that no-one was there on arrival, after we let ourselves in through the entry gate, so we didn't know where anything was.Entering the site was also freaky, because almost nobody was there (maybe 3 spots occupied). We didn't really see anyone the four days we were there, including any other guests, and this is peak summer season. The playground is good for young kids (under 6), although could probably do with a safety check as some of the frame was quite wobbly and our kids pumped their heads quite often. The eco facilities were outdated and the shower was not working at all. A pitty that they did not let us know beforehand that the shower did not work, especially with young kids.I think the lack of proper facilities probably put a lot of people off coming here, as well as the high prices. We paid 45 pond per night for putting up a tent with hardly any facilities. This is not a camping! It's survival and the prices should be like that.

Cycle touring through. So made our way here as it had plenty of good reviews. Turned away via intercom on what looked like the black gates of Mordor. The Mouth of Sauron said that they were fully booked and that we should have booked ahead, but you could see through the hedge that they had loads of room. So it's not really a campsite.....once finding somewhere else to stay and feeling rather besmirched, I nipped on their website to book a small pitch for the same day at £25 for 2 adults. There was space available.
