McElroy's Maintenance

Just back from a stay in one of the safari lodges, originally booked 2 nights but due to car trouble we had to book another night, the girl on reception was lovely and gave us a discount for the 3rd night. We stayed here as we were going to a wedding 5 minutes away and so this was ideally located, our 4 young kids loved the idea of staying in a lodge and loved the play area. Yes I agree with other reviews that the whole site is in need of renovation, the paths at night are very dark and the dim lights on the path are not sufficient. The lodge itself was great, the heating did go off on day 2 but maintenance came within 5 minutes to get it back on. It could have been better equipped, they provide a kettle, toaster, microwave and a couple of cups but no cutlery or crockery so we went to asda and bought our own. I would have expected these to be provided for the price per night however. The restaurant was ok, we had one meal in there and the prices are on the higher side for what is pretty basic food, however you are able to order takeaways onto the site, I can highly recommend the local Chinese! The lodge itself was in need of renovation but we still enjoyed it, it would have been nice to have a floor brush and shovel in there maybe just to keep ontop of things, i also think the decking area definitely needed a light, it was pitch black and we had tonuse the light from our ohines to sit out once the kids were in bed. overall though if you can get this place at a good price and are visiting gullivers land then it is ideal, despite it being dated we would certainly go back again. Bare in mind that the car park is situated outside the main entrance and cars cannot be taken in, there is a trolley though to cart your things from the car park onto the site

After Milton Keynes had taken our soul upon entry, we eventually managed to find our way in to reception/check-in at Gulliver's. …
