We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon after a Pumpkin patch. Service was super friendly, food was on time & very tasty. Found portions were super generous. Very cosy inside. Thank you

Absolutely lovely desserts in the picturesque riverside garden. The friendly pub cat joined us for tea and brownies in the sunshine - perfection! The staff were friendly (shout out to Claire in particular for her great recommendations and kindness to me when I knocked the milk over)

We came to stay over the weekend and were incredibly disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. The toilet was dirty, there was a used towel behind the bathroom door, a discarded jumper on the floor and large amounts of dust all over the side tables. We did mention to a staff member as we left who said she would speak to the manager but received no follow up.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Chequers. The rooms have been nicely renovated, the bathrooms are very modern, and the location is quiet at night (no street noise). The pub downstairs is very nice, while we didn't eat dinner here, we had breakfast in the morning. They also have a lovely backyard beer garden. The staff was super friendly. Parking was also easy. Highly recommend as a nice place to stay while visiting Sissinghust and Scotney Castle in the area.

We had lunch earlier today. Kids meals of fish and chips, and burger and chips were ok, and one of the party enjoyed the tartlet. However, two of us had adult burgers, and we have been both feeling unwell since we left the pub.My burger patty was under seasoned, cheddar cheese tasted like old socks, coleslaw was not seasoned at all. Half pint of non alcoholic beer smelled off, as if the glass was not dried properly. Very disappointed. I don't think I'll be coming back.

Went looking for a traditional pub, one without an over-priced niche menu, without flashy music & lights, but yes, occasional music. Chequers is a comfortable, homey place to meet with friends or to meet someone new. I will be back when the opportunity affords.

We came in just over a week ago and were really impressed with our meal, the staff and the general atmosphere. My flat iron steak and peppercorn sauce was melt in the mouth good. So tasty and cooked beautifully by Caroline.Caroline was even around in the restaurant with her usual smiles and warmth. The staff were amazing, Rebecca is a great addition. She is attentive, friendly, warm and can’t do enough for you.Rich is managing the place seamlessly and I wish I could name everyone else there that night, because they were all great.Lots of punters.Lots of atmosphere. Can’t fault it!

Went for a catch up meal with friends and had a lovely evening here.Bar service was excellent and had a pleasant seating area where we sat and enjoyed a glass of wine before going round to eat in the restaurant.Menu was short but enough there to choose from and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered.Must admit apple and date crumble just a little too sweet for me.Also found out that there's a great day walk from the car park round and back that can end in the pub for a drink and food. Excellent will return.

We got really sick after eating at this inn. We had beef and chicken roasts. The place looks quirky and the service is decent but it doesn’t excuse food poisoning! The food is also absolutely overpriced!
