Aunt Millie's Cheesy Broccoli Bake

4 heads fresh broccoli, chopped

1 ½ cups shredded American cheese

1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 ½ teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons ground black pepper

3 tablespoons butter

2 cups crushed, seasoned croutons
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the broccoli for 1 minute, then drain and set aside.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cheese, cream of mushroom soup, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese has melted. Add the cooked broccoli and stir to coat. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the croutons, then sprinkle the crouton mixture evenly over the broccoli casserole.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the broccoli is tender.
