Burek
Ingredients List
-
1 pound lean ground beef
-
1 tablespoon ground allspice
-
1 tablespoon paprika
-
salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
-
1 medium potato, finely chopped
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
16 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
-
¼ cup melted butter
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 5-7 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and crumbly. Drain any excess fat. Add allspice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Transfer the beef mixture to a large bowl, then mix in the mashed potatoes and finely chopped onion.
-
Lay two sheets of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Place about 1/8 of the beef mixture along one edge of the dough stack. Roll the dough around the filling into a tight tube, then coil it into a spiral shape. Transfer each coil to an ungreased baking sheet, making sure they are placed close together to prevent unrolling. Brush each coil generously with melted butter.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the burek is golden brown and crispy.
