Cedar Plank Baked Salmon

Ingredients Needed
-
3 tablespoons brown sugar
-
2 tablespoons sesame oil
-
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
-
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
-
3 tablespoons water, or as needed
-
1 tablespoon soy sauce (Optional)
-
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (Optional)
-
4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, with skin
-
1 12-inch untreated cedar plank, soaked in water for 2 hours
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
-
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and dill. Gradually add water to achieve a smooth, liquid consistency. Stir in soy sauce and pepper to taste.
-
Lay the salmon fillets, skin-side down, on the soaked cedar plank. Evenly distribute the sugar mixture over the fillets to coat them completely.
-
Place the cedar plank directly onto the oven rack and bake until the salmon easily flakes with a fork, about 30 to 40 minutes.
Grilling Instructions:
Preheat your outdoor grill to a medium temperature. Follow steps 2 and 3 from above. Place the soaked cedar plank with the salmon on the grill, close the lid, and cook until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 25 minutes.
Pro Tip
Soak the cedar plank for a minimum of 2 hours, though you can leave it in water for up to 12 hours for the best results.
