Chicago-Style New York Strip

Ingredients List
-
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
½ teaspoon white sugar
-
2 tablespoons apricot preserves
-
2 (1/2 pound) New York strip steaks, 1 inch thick
-
salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
-
In a shallow dish, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cinnamon, sugar, and apricot preserves. Stir until the preserves dissolve into the mixture.
-
Using a knife, make a few shallow cuts on each side of the steaks. Season with salt and pepper. Place steaks into the marinade, ensuring they're evenly coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
-
Preheat the grill to high heat.
-
Lightly oil the grill grates. Place the steaks on the grill, discarding any leftover marinade. Grill the steaks for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they reach your preferred level of doneness.
