Crispy Rice Patties

1 cup cooked rice

½ small onion, chopped

¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon minced garlic

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (Optional)

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, or more to taste

¼ teaspoon chopped fresh parsley, or to taste (Optional)

1 pinch onion powder, or to taste (Optional)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
Cooking Instructions

In a large bowl, combine cooked rice, diced onion, shredded Cheddar cheese, beaten egg, garlic, salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper, parsley, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly by hand. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Shape the rice mixture into 4 small patties.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the patties until golden brown, about 5 minutes on each side.
Helpful Recipe Tips
You can incorporate about 2/3 cup of leftover meat such as shredded beef, pork, chicken, or ground beef, and feel free to choose any type of cheese you prefer.
Be cautious when flipping the patties as they can be fragile and may break, but they will still taste delicious!
