Crockpot Steel-Cut Oats

Ingredients List
-
3 ½ cups water
-
1 cup steel-cut oats
-
1 cup peeled and chopped apple
-
½ cup raisins
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking Instructions
In your slow cooker, combine water, steel-cut oats, chopped apple, raisins, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir everything together until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined. Cover and cook on the Low setting for 6 to 7 hours, or until the oats are tender and creamy. For a softer consistency, let it cook for 8 hours. If your slow cooker tends to run hot, use the Warm setting instead.

Cook’s Tip
Be sure to use steel-cut oats (not rolled oats!), or you’ll end up with a sticky, unappetizing mess.
