Deluxe Beef Stroganoff
Ingredients List

2 pounds sirloin steak, pounded to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 1 x 1 1/2-inch strips

½ cup red wine

¼ cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ cup butter

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups canned sliced mushrooms

1 (10 ounce) can beef broth

½ cup water

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

⅓ cup cream cheese

⅓ cup sour cream

2 cups hot cooked noodles
Instructions

Combine the beef and red wine in a bowl and let it marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.

In a resealable plastic bag, mix the flour, salt, paprika, and black pepper. Take the beef out of the marinade, reserving the red wine, and toss the beef in the flour mixture until well-coated.

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook and stir the beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft and translucent, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Add mushrooms, beef broth, water, the reserved marinade, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and mustard. Stir until well combined, then bring to a boil. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour, until the beef is very tender.

Stir in the cream cheese and sour cream, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until heated through. Serve over cooked noodles.
Chef’s Tip
You can substitute nut oils for butter if preferred.
This dish can be made a day in advance; simply refrigerate it before adding the sour cream and cream cheese. When ready, reheat gently before mixing in the final ingredients.
If desired, swap the canned beef broth with 1 1/3 cups of beef stock. You can also use Dijon mustard in place of yellow mustard.
