Flavorful Spicy Baked Tofu

1 (12 ounce) package tofu

2 tablespoons Japanese low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons Asian chili sauce

2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root

1 ½ tablespoons hoisin sauce

Instructions

Place two paper towels on a plate. Put the tofu on top, then cover it with two more paper towels. Place a heavy plate on the stack and let it sit for 5 to 30 minutes to press out excess liquid. Slice tofu into 1/2-inch strips.

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine soy sauce, chili sauce, ginger, and hoisin sauce. Add tofu, seal the bag, and massage the marinade to coat. Remove excess air and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.

Take tofu out of the marinade and shake off any excess liquid. Arrange the tofu strips on the prepared baking sheet and discard the remaining marinade.

Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is firm and golden.
