Garlic Cream Chicken Pasta

Ingredients List
-
1 (16 ounce) package farfalle (bow tie) pasta
-
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
-
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 small onions, chopped
-
1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces and stems, drained
-
¼ cup butter
-
¼ cup all-purpose flour
-
2 ½ cups milk
-
1 ½ teaspoons crushed garlic
-
salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add farfalle pasta and cook for about 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until al dente. Drain and return pasta to the pot.
-
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Cook the chicken until it’s no longer pink and the juices run clear, about 5 to 8 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet, place on a cutting board, and slice into thin strips.
-
In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and translucent, about 5 to 10 minutes. Add the mushrooms and chicken strips, stirring until heated through, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
-
In another large skillet, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk until fully incorporated, then add garlic, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute before reducing the heat.
-
Add the chicken mixture and cooked farfalle to the garlic sauce. Stir everything together over medium-low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, until fully heated.
