Gyoza

Ingredients
-
1 tablespoon sesame oil
-
2 cups chopped cabbage
-
¼ cup chopped onion
-
¼ cup chopped carrot
-
1 clove garlic, chopped
-
½ pound ground pork
-
1 large egg
-
1 (10 ounce) package wonton wrappers
-
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
-
¼ cup water
-
¼ cup soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
Directions
-
Heat sesame oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add cabbage, onion, carrot, and garlic, cooking and stirring until the cabbage softens, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the ground pork and egg, and cook until the pork is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
-
To make the gyoza, spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture into the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half over the filling, sealing the edges by moistening your fingers. Repeat the process with the remaining filling.
-
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the gyoza to the skillet and cook until the bottoms are lightly golden, about 1 minute per side. Add a small amount of water to the skillet, reduce the heat, cover, and steam the gyoza until the water evaporates. Remove from heat.
-
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce and rice vinegar together. Serve as a dipping sauce for the gyoza.
Recipe Tip
You can easily swap ground pork for any other ground meat of your choice.
