Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, combine ketchup, maple syrup, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and chili powder; mix well and set aside.

After simmering the beans for 1 hour, drain them, saving the cooking liquid. Transfer the beans to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish, then stir in chopped onions and the molasses sauce mixture. Add enough reserved cooking liquid to ensure the sauce covers the beans by about 1/4 inch.

Cover the dish and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to 200°F (95°C) and cook for an additional 6 hours, stirring the beans after 3 hours. Once the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened to a sticky consistency, remove from the oven, stir, cover, and let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
