Marzipan Sweets
Ingredients List
-
8 ounces almond paste
-
2 cups confectioners' sugar
-
¼ cup corn syrup
-
3 drops any color food coloring
Instructions
-
Start by breaking almond paste into small chunks in a medium bowl. Add 1 cup of powdered sugar and mix it in with your hands until it is evenly combined. It will feel crumbly. Gradually add another 3/4 cup of sugar, kneading until fully blended. Stir in corn syrup and continue to knead until smooth. Transfer to a clean surface dusted with powdered sugar and knead for 3 to 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and uniform. If it becomes too sticky, add more sugar. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour. The texture should be like modeling clay.
-
Pinch off small portions of marzipan to color, working the food coloring in thoroughly until you achieve the desired shade. Incorporate the colored pieces into the larger dough portions. Dust your rolling surface and rolling pin with powdered sugar, then roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thick. Use small cookie cutters to shape the dough into candies.
