Oven-Baked Pork Chops with Rice
Ingredients List
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
1 onion, diced
-
1 pinch seasoned salt, or to taste
-
6 thin bone-in pork chops
-
1 (14 ounce) can beef consomme
-
10 fluid ounces water
-
1 ½ cups white rice
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat and cook the onions until golden and caramelized, about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the onions and set aside on a plate.
-
Season both sides of each pork chop with seasoned salt. Place the pork chops in the same skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.
-
In a 9x13-inch baking dish, combine beef consomme and water. Stir in the rice and caramelized onions. Arrange the browned pork chops on top of the rice in a single layer. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the pork is fully cooked. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C) when checked with an instant-read thermometer.
