Pineapple-Glazed Spiral Ham

1 (12-pound) bone-in ham

½ cup whole cloves

1 (20 ounce) can pineapple rings in heavy syrup

1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

½ cup packed brown sugar

1 (4 ounce) jar chopped maraschino cherries
Cooking Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

Place the ham in a roasting pan and score the rind in a diamond pattern using a sharp knife. Insert a clove into the center of each diamond.

Drain the juice from the pineapple rings into a medium-sized bowl. Stir in lemon-lime soda and brown sugar. Coat the ham with this mixture and arrange the pineapple rings over the ham. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple ring and secure it with a toothpick.

Bake the ham uncovered in the preheated oven, basting it frequently with the pan juices, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (72°C), about 4 to 5 hours. Make sure the meat thermometer does not touch the bone. Remove the toothpicks before serving.
