1 (16 ounce) package frozen broccoli, thawed

2 tablespoons butter

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed

1 cup crushed buttery round crackers
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Steam the broccoli over 1 inch of boiling water, covering it. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes until tender but firm; then drain.

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add salt, flour, and milk. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Once thickened, stir in the cream cheese until it melts. Remove from heat and mix in the broccoli.

Spread 1/2 cup of crushed crackers at the bottom of a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Pour the broccoli mixture into the dish, then top with the remaining crushed crackers.
