Sardine Pasta Dish
Ingredients List
-
8 ounces dry fettuccine pasta
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
-
3 cloves garlic, crushed
-
1 medium lemon, juiced
-
1 (3.75 ounce) can sardines in tomato sauce
-
¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine for about 8 minutes, until almost tender, then drain.
-
While the pasta cooks, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion for about 3 minutes until soft, then add garlic and cook for another minute. Add the sardines and tomato sauce, stir well, and cook for 3 minutes until warmed through. Reduce heat to low and simmer.
-
Drain the pasta and toss it with the sauce. Cover, turn off the heat, and let it rest for 3 minutes. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top, plate the pasta into four servings, and garnish with Parmesan and red pepper flakes.
