Simple and Savory Honey-Garlic Pork Chops

Ingredients List
-
4 (5 ounce) pork chops
-
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
-
6 cloves garlic, minced
-
¼ cup honey
-
¼ cup water
-
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
Cooking Instructions
-
Position the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the broiler.
-
Season both sides of the pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
-
Heat oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops until golden brown and fully cooked, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.
-
Lower the heat to medium and melt butter in the skillet, scraping up any caramelized bits. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, roughly 30 seconds. Pour in honey, water, and vinegar. Increase heat to medium-high and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and reduces, about 3 to 4 minutes. Return the pork chops to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them.
-
Place the skillet under the broiler and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the edges of the pork chops are slightly charred.
Chef’s Tips
Feel free to use either bone-in or boneless pork chops. For an alternative, you can swap the water with chicken broth, and rice wine vinegar can be replaced with any type of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
