Simple Cheesy Lasagna

Ingredients List
-
1 pound ground beef
-
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
-
½ cup warm water
-
1 cup sliced black olives
-
1 pinch basil
-
2 teaspoons garlic powder
-
1 tablespoon dried oregano
-
1 ½ teaspoons dried sage
-
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
-
2 tablespoons minced garlic
-
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
-
2 (14 ounce) jars marinara sauce
-
1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
-
8 ounces ricotta cheese
-
1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Cooking Instructions
-
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat. Stir in water and black olives, then season with basil, garlic powder, oregano, sage, pepper, minced garlic, and onion flakes. Let simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the marinara sauce and remove from heat.
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of the meat mixture at the bottom. Place a layer of dry lasagna noodles on top. Spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with the meat mixture on top. Set aside about 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese for later.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, checking after 30 minutes depending on the thickness of the lasagna. It’s done when a knife easily slides through. Sprinkle the reserved mozzarella cheese on top and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until melted.
