-
1 (4 pound) pork shoulder roast
-
2 tablespoons coarse kosher salt, or to taste
-
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
-
1 (4 fluid ounce) bottle liquid smoke flavoring, or to taste
-
4 cloves garlic
Instructions
-
Place the pork roast into your slow cooker. Season it with salt, then pour root beer, liquid smoke, and garlic over the top.
-
Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours. Once done, transfer the pork to a bowl. Strain the cooking liquid using a fine-mesh strainer (you can discard it or save for later use). Return the garlic cloves to the pork. Shred the meat with two forks and serve with your favorite BBQ sauce.
Note from the Editor:
The nutritional information provided includes the entire amount of cooking liquid. The actual amount consumed will vary depending on individual servings.
To keep leftover pulled pork fresh, add some of the reserved cooking liquid before storing it in the refrigerator. When reheating, use the liquid to prevent the pork from drying out.
