South Asian-Inspired Ground Beef (Keema)

1 ½ tablespoons curry powder

1 teaspoon ground turmeric

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

½ cinnamon stick

1 pound ground beef

2 potatoes, diced

2 tomatoes, diced
Instructions

Heat butter in a large pan or skillet over high heat, then sauté the onions and garlic until the onions become translucent, about 5 minutes.

In a bowl, mix together curry powder, salt, turmeric, cayenne pepper, black pepper, ginger, and cinnamon.

Add ground beef to the onion mixture, breaking it into small pieces, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Stir in the curry spice mix and combine thoroughly.

Stir in the potatoes and tomatoes, reduce the heat to medium, cover the pan, and simmer for about 20 minutes until the potatoes are soft and cooked through.
Cooking Tip
You can replace the butter with oil if preferred.
