¾ cup fresh bread crumbs

½ cup chili sauce

1 large egg

Brown Gravy:

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms

2 tablespoons minced onion

1 cup beef broth
-
2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon cornstarch
Cooking Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chili sauce, egg, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture into an 8x4-inch loaf pan, then place the loaf pan on a rack inside a roasting pan.

Bake in the preheated oven until the meat is fully cooked with no pink remaining, about 1 hour. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160°F (70°C). Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes while you prepare the gravy.

To make the gravy: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions, cooking and stirring until softened. Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Mix the cornstarch with water in a small cup, then stir into the broth. Cook and stir for about 1 minute until the gravy thickens.
