American Express is set to open its fourth Centurion Lounge in Mexico City

American Express is making significant strides in the southern regions.
The issuer revealed on Wednesday that its fourth Centurion Lounge will be established at Mexico City International Airport (MEX) on August 1.
This new lounge will be situated on the domestic side of Terminal 1, which serves Mexican airlines Volaris and Viva Aerobus.

The lounge will span 8,400 square feet and feature a variety of standard Centurion Lounge offerings, such as private phone booths, comfortable seating areas, a full bar, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Additionally, this lounge will provide shoe-cleaning services — one of the more distinctive features we've encountered in the Centurion Lounge network.
The menu will be crafted by chef Jonatan Gomez Luna, whose restaurant Le Chique in Cancun recently earned a Michelin star.
Later this year, Luna will also serve as the exclusive chef partner for Amex's Centurion Lounges throughout Mexico, including three more lounges in Mexico City and two in Monterrey.
"We are experiencing tremendous interest in the Centurion Lounges in Mexico City, with most of our eligible cardholders in Mexico having visited at least one of the lounges during their journeys. The launch of our fourth Centurion Lounge in Mexico City marks a significant milestone as we expand the global reach of our Centurion Lounge network and offer cardmembers a premium experience to kick off their travels," stated Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, in a recent statement.
Many of Amex's international lounge locations were not initially branded as Centurion Lounges, but in 2021, the issuer decided to unify its entire proprietary lounge network under the Centurion Lounge brand.

As part of this rebranding effort, Amex upgraded numerous international spaces that did not meet the latest standards, and its newest locations worldwide showcase all the signature design elements and amenities of Centurion Lounges.
Currently, Amex operates three Centurion Lounges in Mexico City. Two are located in Terminal 1 — one on the domestic side and another on the international side. There is also a Centurion Lounge in Terminal 2.
With the addition of this fourth lounge at MEX, marking the issuer's second in the domestic area of Terminal 1, this initiative will help reduce some of the overcrowding.
This announcement is likely to be seen as a positive development for Amex's premium cardholders. The issuer continues to invest in creating a top-tier lounge network. Just last week, Amex opened the much-anticipated Centurion Lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in D.C.

The issuer also intends to establish a location in the new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), expected to debut in 2026.
No additional Amex lounge openings have been confirmed at this time, but be sure to stay tuned to TPG for updates on the Centurion Lounge network.
How to gain entry to the Amex Centurion Lounge network
American Express cardholders with a Centurion or Platinum card, such as The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, can access the Amex Centurion Lounges.
Members of the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card also receive complimentary entry to Centurion Lounges when traveling on a same-day Delta Air Lines-marketed or operated flight.

Access to the Centurion Lounge cannot be purchased, even if you hold another American Express card.
Please note that Centurion Lounge guest policies were updated last year to address overcrowding issues.
Platinum cardholders are unable to bring complimentary guests into the lounge unless they meet an annual spending threshold of $75,000 on their cards. Otherwise, there is a fee of $50 per adult guest and $30 for children ages 2-17. Kids under 2 can enter for free. Centurion and Corporate Platinum cardholders can still bring in up to two complimentary guests.
The details for the Centurion and Corporate Platinum credit cards have been gathered independently by Dinogo. The information on this page has not been verified or provided by the card issuer.
