An evening under the stars: 8 stunning celebrity-inspired hotel suites
Ever wondered what it would feel like to sleep in the same suite as your favorite celebrity?
Celebrity-owned resorts are becoming hot spots for travelers, with stars like Hugh Jackman and Richard Gere venturing into the hospitality business.
For the ultimate experience, nothing compares to staying in a suite crafted by the stars themselves.
From wellness-focused rooms by a tennis legend in Chicago to a luxurious penthouse by a movie icon in Capri, here are eight breathtaking hotel suites that reflect the creative vision of famous names.
Venus Williams – V Suite at The Hotel at Midtown, Chicago
While it might seem surprising for a tennis pro to design a hotel suite, Venus Williams has actually been working as an interior designer for years through her company, V*Starr Interiors.
Her latest project? A wellness-focused, one-bedroom suite for the 55-room Hotel at Midtown, which opened its doors in November 2017 and is part of Chicago’s Midtown Athletic Club.
The V Suite boasts a modern, Nordic-inspired aesthetic, featuring textured walls and a soft, natural color scheme accented with wood and bronze details.
As stated in a press release from V*Starr Interiors, Williams designed the suite to be incredibly welcoming and comfortable, creating a true home-away-from-home experience.
Lenny Kravitz – Extreme WOW Suite at W Las Vegas
Since its opening in March 2017, W Las Vegas has quickly become one of the most exciting hotels on The Strip – thanks in no small part to its signature penthouse suite, designed by none other than Lenny Kravitz.
This rockstar-inspired suite spans 2,382 square feet, featuring plush red velvet sofas, sleek marble furnishings, original artworks, and a grand piano.
To complete the experience, the suite boasts expansive wall-to-wall windows and two private terraces offering stunning views of downtown Las Vegas and the Nevada mountains.
Vivienne Westwood – The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills’ penthouse suite
With its daring colors and unique furnishings, Vivienne Westwood’s signature suite at The London West Hollywood makes a bold statement, just like her famous fashion label.
The suite also exudes luxury, featuring a 5,000-square-foot rooftop terrace, a dining room with panoramic 360-degree views of Beverly Hills, and a sunlit atrium with a stunning waterfall.
If that weren’t impressive enough, it also holds the title of the largest penthouse suite in Los Angeles, stretching an incredible 11,000 square feet.
Marc Anthony – Presidential Suite at La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico
Though widely recognized for his musical talent, Marc Anthony also has a keen eye for interior design.
The Grammy-winning artist lent his expertise to the design of the Presidential Suite at La Concha, a favorite spot for celebrities in San Juan’s Condado district.
The 1,085-square-foot suite embodies effortless style – much like Anthony himself – with a minimalist design that lets the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean take center stage.
Additional features include a vast terrace, an outdoor dining area, and a Jacuzzi with ocean views.
*Note: The resort emerged relatively unscathed from Hurricane Maria and continues to operate as usual, welcoming guests.
J.K. Rowling Suite at The Balmoral, Edinburgh
The J.K. Rowling Suite at The Balmoral, a Rocco Forte hotel in Edinburgh, brings the world of Harry Potter to life with shelves filled with books from the series and woodland-themed décor – think owl figurines and tree-patterned wallpaper – just as you’d imagine.
Redesigned by Forte’s sister, Olga Polizzi, the suite includes the antique oak desk once used by Rowling, as well as the queen-sized bed where she spent six months finishing the final Harry Potter book in that very room.
The suite's crowning feature is a marble bust of the Greek god Hermes, which bears the inscription: “J.K. Rowling finished writing ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ in this room (552) on 11th Jan 2007,” a tribute from the author herself.
Diane von Fürstenberg – The Piano Suite at Claridge’s, London
Although Diane von Fürstenberg has designed 20 suites for the iconic London hotel, the 2,000-square-foot Piano Suite stands as her ultimate masterpiece.
Adorned in bold patterns and vibrant hues – think lime green, fuchsia, and canary yellow – the suite radiates the same style and glamour as her famous wrap dresses.
Other elegant details include soft cashmere throws, vintage travel trunks, and von Fürstenberg’s own framed photographs from her global adventures.
Gwyneth Paltrow – The Paltrow Presidential Suite at the Capri Palace, Anacapri
Surrounded by lush hanging gardens and offering expansive ocean views, this penthouse suite at the Capri Palace Hotel and Spa, named after its iconic guest Gwyneth Paltrow, provides the ultimate island retreat.
Redesigned in 2009, the Art Deco-inspired suite showcases a sleek monochrome palette, complemented by rich wooden accents and classic antique furnishings.
Highlights include a sprawling 3,000-square-foot terrace with views of Mount Solaro, along with not one, but two heated swimming pools.
Francis Ford Coppola – The Francis Suite at Palazzo Margherita, Bernalda, Italy
When the Oscar-winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola acquired and restored the 19th-century Palazzo Margherita in 2012, he treated the project like one of his films – paying meticulous attention to every detail, from the frescoes to the curated library.
Located in Bernalda, the hometown of Coppola’s grandfather, all nine rooms at the villa are masterfully designed and decorated by French interior designer Jacques Grange, but the Francis Suite stands out as the most exceptional of them all.
Inspired by Coppola’s grandmother Maria Zasa, who was born in Tunisia, the suite showcases North African design elements such as vibrant mosaic tiles, striking Moroccan patterns, and Tunisian textiles, all complemented by breathtaking views of the hotel’s lush gardens.
