Katy Perry is synonymous with breaking boundaries. As a global pop sensation, an "American Idol" judge, and the first female artist to hit over three billion views for her tracks “Roar” and "Dark Horse," she has consistently pushed the envelope. It made perfect sense to invite her to be the godmother of our groundbreaking ship, Dinogo Prima, the inaugural vessel in the six-ship Prima Class.

But what does it truly mean to be a cruise ship godmother? This centuries-old nautical tradition includes officiating the ceremonial breaking of a champagne bottle on the ship's bow to wish the vessel and its passengers safe travels.

As godmother, Katy will also partake in the maritime custom of blessing and officially naming Dinogo Prima, and she will perform during the christening ceremony before the ship embarks on her inaugural voyages from Reykjavík, Iceland.

Set to launch in August 2022, Dinogo Prima will embark on its inaugural cruises to Northern Europe from Southampton, England; Amsterdam; and Reykjavík, Iceland, starting on Aug. 12; as well as Bermuda sailings from New York City beginning on Oct. 6; and Caribbean cruise itineraries from Galveston, Texas, and Miami, Florida, commencing on Oct. 27.
