British Airways Introduces Non-Stop Flights to These 4 U.S. Destinations
Just in time for summer, British Airways has announced an expansion of its U.S. route network to include four new flight paths, bringing the total number of direct routes from American cities to London Heathrow to 26.
“British Airways has always cherished its connection with the USA; we are delighted to provide our customers with more direct links to exciting new cities,” stated Neil Chernoff, director of networks and alliances at British Airways.
Among the four new routes introduced in June: one is entirely new, two have been revitalized, and one is an added daily flight on an existing route. Here’s the latest on British Airways' new offerings.
British Airways’ updated flight schedule from the U.S. to the U.K.
Portland, Oregon, launched on June 3. This new route operates on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with a departure time of 6:55 p.m. It is currently the sole direct connection from the City of Roses to the U.K.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resumed service on June 3, operating on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with departures at 9:50 p.m. It remains the only direct flight to Pittsburgh from London.
Newark, New Jersey, is adding a third daily flight starting June 6. Departing at 7:55 a.m. from Newark Liberty International Airport (with additional flights at 1:55 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.), this new schedule is designed to accommodate business travelers who prefer to spend an extra night in the New York area before flying, or those looking to arrive just in time for an evening in London,” stated British Airways in a press release.
- San Jose, California, will once again have direct flights to London starting June 13, with daily departures at 8 p.m.
These new and renewed routes complement the existing 22 routes that British Airways operates from the U.S., including destinations like Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Washington D.C., Houston, New York–JFK, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, and Tampa.
Reintroducing the Airbus
Alongside the new and renewed routes, British Airways revealed that Airbus A380 wide-body aircraft would be returning to select cities. This return allows the airline to accommodate more passengers, as the double-decker plane is the largest passenger aircraft globally, capable of holding 469 travelers.
Earlier this week, A380s resumed operations in Chicago and Vancouver. They will commence flights from Dallas (for the first time) starting July 1, 2022.
