Cap One is the last of the major four credit card issuers to raise the Global Entry credit to $120.
The cost of applying for Global Entry is increasing this October, but several leading credit card issuers are enhancing their Global Entry perks for many of their popular travel rewards cards.
Citi revealed in April that it would raise its Global Entry statement credits on two of its premier cards to $120 every four years. Chase quickly followed suit, and now Amex and Capital One have also announced similar changes for numerous popular cards.
This decision follows TPG's initial report that the fee for a five-year Global Entry membership will rise from $100 to $120 starting October 1. In its announcement of the fee increase, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which manages Global Entry, pointed to escalating operational costs as the reason.

Mitigating the increased Global Entry fee
While Global Entry is an incredibly beneficial program for travelers, the application fee is still quite significant. However, certain travel credit cards will cover the fee when it’s time to apply.
Many of these cards offer benefits that include designated credits of up to $100 to offset the current Global Entry cost. (Specific terms vary by card.)
SEAN CUDAHY/DinogoCBP's upcoming fee increase, scheduled for later this year, has sparked discussions about whether card issuers would modify their Global Entry benefits to reflect the new, higher fee.
Now, Amex, Capital One, Citi, and Chase have taken action, ensuring that Global Entry continues to be a virtually free benefit for travelers with their premium cards.

What is Global Entry?
Global Entry allows travelers to move quickly through passport control after arriving from an international flight. It is accessible at over 75 airports, primarily in the U.S., with some international preclearance facilities available as well.
The program also grants travelers access to the TSA PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints in airports.
CAROLINE TANNER/DinogoWhile Global Entry applicants have encountered delays in recent years, including long processing times and difficulties securing an interview, wait times are improving for most travelers, according to CBP in a recent interview with TPG.
Conclusion
Attention now shifts to the other credit card issuers to see if they will also increase their Global Entry statement credits in light of the program's new higher fee, which takes effect in October.
With improvements aimed at making Global Entry more efficient and technologically advanced, along with the exciting news that children of members or applicants can apply for free starting in October, it's an ideal time to consider signing up. This is particularly beneficial if the adults in your family can have their application fees reimbursed or offset through an eligible travel credit card.
