The Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card are among the top travel credit cards, offering valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points, extensive travel protections, and annual travel credits. Their rewards and benefits are often regarded as the best in their respective categories of high and low fee travel credit cards.
Nonetheless, the Platinum Card® from American Express outshines Chase as the ultimate credit card for airport lounge access, primarily due to Amex’s exclusive Centurion Lounges. To enhance its lounge offerings and remain competitive, Chase unveiled plans for its own branded lounges in June 2021, aimed at Reserve cardholders. A year later, details surfaced regarding these Chase Sapphire Lounges, with the inaugural lounge opening in Hong Kong in October 2022, followed by the smaller Chase Sapphire Terrace at Austin airport in March 2023, and the first full Chase Sapphire Lounge in the United States at Boston Logan International Airport in May. Here are the insights on these new Chase lounges, upcoming locations, and cardholder access information.
Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club
In late October 2022, the inaugural Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club opened at Hong Kong airport in the West Hall of Terminal 1, close to gate 40. This expansive lounge spans nearly 12,000 square feet and is a revamped version of the previous Club Lounge that existed before the pandemic. The new lounge features stylish dining pods, numerous chic yet comfortable couches, Asian-inspired dining options, a curated selection of wines, high-speed Wi-Fi, and much more.
In May 2023, the first Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club opened in the United States at Boston Logan International Airport. Situated in the newly constructed Terminal B to C Connector, nestled between gates B40 and B39, this lounge boasts a spacious 11,640 square feet, offering plenty of cozy corners for relaxation before flights and during layovers.
Plans are underway for additional Chase-branded lounges at several other U.S. airports. Although specific design details and opening dates remain limited, the prevailing sentiment among points enthusiasts is that Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) will be the next location, expected to open later this year.
What we do know for sure is that Chase intends to establish at least seven more airport lounges. So far, it has disclosed the locations of five additional lounges. They are:
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), situated in Terminal D
- Las Vegas (LAS), found in Terminal 1, C Gates
- New York (LGA), located in Terminal B
- Phoenix (PHX), positioned in Terminal 4 South 1
- San Diego (SAN), housed in Terminal 2 West

Chase Sapphire Terrace
In addition to full-scale lounges, Chase has introduced a new concept called Chase Sapphire Terrace, offering a more compact lounge experience. The inaugural terrace opened on March 20, 2023, in Austin, Texas, at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) near Gate 1, where Delta Air Lines frequently operates. This terrace features a nearly 5,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space with views of the southbound runway, shuffleboard outdoors, and striking artwork by local muralist Rex Hamilton inside. Guests can enjoy complimentary grab-and-go snacks and a selection of beverages, including local favorites such as cider from Austin Eastciders and beer from (512) Brewing Company.

What to Anticipate at Future Chase Sapphire Airport Lounges
Chase’s entry into the airport lounge market is a partnership with Airport Dimensions, which manages the existing lounge network known as “The Club.” (Thus, the name Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club.) Currently, “The Club” lounges are available in 16 U.S. airports and two in the U.K., and they are accessible to Priority Pass members. After visiting several of these “The Club” locations and finding them rather average (or typical Priority Pass offerings, we might say), we approached the Chase-Club collaboration with caution. However, Chase has promised that its lounges “provide a fresh take on the lounge experience,” suggesting that their new locations will be more upscale than the existing “The Club” venues. The successful launch in Hong Kong serves as a testament to this, and it’s expected that upcoming Chase lounges will feature amenities typical of higher-end lounges, such as showers and wellness areas, along with enticing food and beverage selections.
Regarding lounge dimensions, plans currently vary from a compact 3,500-square-foot lounge in Phoenix to a more spacious 12,000-square-foot facility in Boston.
How to Access the New Chase Sapphire Airport Lounges
The Chase Sapphire Terrace is exclusively available to holders of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve Card. You'll need your card for entry and can bring along two guests at no extra cost.
The entire new network of Chase Sapphire Lounges by the Club will be integrated into the Priority Pass network. Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders are granted Priority Pass Select membership, ensuring they have access. However, just having a Reserve Card isn't sufficient; a Priority Pass must be presented for entry.
Nonetheless, Priority Pass Select membership—and access to over 1,300 lounges—is also a perk of various other high-fee credit cards, including the Capital One Venture X Rewards Card ($395 annual fee), Chase Sapphire Reserve® ($550 annual fee), Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card ($650 annual fee, see rates and fees), and The Platinum Card from American Express ($695 annual fee, see rates and fees).
Generally, Priority Pass members can access lounges on their flight date, regardless of the airline or class of service, and may bring two guests at no charge. This rule applies at the new Boston and Hong Kong lounges for Priority Pass holders with a Chase Sapphire Reserve. However, Priority Pass members through other credit cards or those with a paid membership will only be able to visit a Sapphire Lounge by the Club location once per calendar year for free (without guests). Any additional visits (or guests) will incur an entry fee.
Please note that holders of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card do not have access to the lounge.
