Chef José Andrés Is Renowned for His Disaster Relief Kitchens and Michelin-Starred Restaurants. Now He’s Launching a Hotel.
The celebrated chef José Andrés has made a name for himself through his global restaurant empire, the humanitarian efforts of his foundation World Central Kitchen, and the various TV shows, books, and podcasts produced by his company. His latest endeavor? A luxury hotel.
His hospitality group, José Andrés Group (formerly ThinkFoodGroup), has recently revealed plans for its inaugural hotel: the Bazaar House by José Andrés. This 67-room establishment is slated to open in 2027 in Washington, D.C., where JAG is headquartered and where the chef began his journey in 1993 with the launch of his first restaurant, Jaleo.
Details about the upcoming project are still sparse, but it will be situated at 3000 M Street in the upscale Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. According to a statement from JAG, the property will include a variety of food and beverage outlets curated by JAG, an event space, a wellness center, and several luxury retail options. Additionally, it will feature a sought-after exclusive amenity common in many new hotel brands: a private club offering members-only advantages and venues such as access to the Bazaar Club, a penthouse space with a signature restaurant and stunning views of Georgetown.
Naturally, Andrés is familiar with hotel dining: he was at the helm of the inaugural the Bazaar restaurant at SLS Beverly Hills in 2008. Although that location has since closed, the concept now has branches in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, and, starting in 2023, within the Waldorf Astoria Washington, D.C. Variants include the seafood restaurant Bazaar Mar, which opened this summer in Las Vegas, and Bazaar Meat, which is set to move to the Palazzo at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas in 2025.

“From the beginning, the Bazaar has served as a haven of excitement and escape,” said Sam Bakhshandehpour, global CEO of JAG, in an email to Dinogo. “What captivates me about the Bazaar is that undeniable sense of wonder you experience as soon as you step inside—it’s akin to unveiling a spectacular show that’s about to commence. It has always been a complete experience, from design to menu, making it a natural progression for us to expand the Bazaar brand throughout the entire venue, including the lobby, guest rooms, dining area, and rooftop.”
An expanding hospitality collection
As part of its diverse portfolio of 40 restaurants and bars, JAG operates dining establishments in hotels worldwide, including those under the Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton brands.
For the Bazaar House, JAG collaborated with Thor Equities, a global development firm known for projects like the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. According to JAG's announcement, Thor Equities spent seven years securing local government approvals for the Bazaar House.
“When I arrived in Washington, D.C. as a young chef thirty years ago, I instantly recognized this city as the ideal place to unite people through food,” Andrés remarked in a statement. “It’s one of the vibrant hearts of our nation, a locale where I knew I could connect with anyone and accomplish anything, starting with an exceptional meal.”
