Condor, the German Budget Airline, Launches Flights to Europe Starting at $265

This spring, Condor Airlines grabbed attention with its vibrant candy-striped planes. However, the real highlight is the flight prices. Recently, the airline introduced nonstop flights from Boston to Frankfurt, with fares as low as $265 one way, making travel between the East Coast and Germany more affordable. This Boston route is part of a broader expansion of Condor's U.S. services, perfectly timed for the summer travel season.

The newly established route between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Frankfurt Airport (FRA), which commenced on May 23, now operates three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—utilizing A330-200 aircraft.

The Boston route launch coincided with Condor’s inaugural flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Frankfurt. Starting May 24, Condor will operate this service three times a week (on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) using Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Additionally, on May 19, Condor initiated flights between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Frankfurt, scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, also on Boeing 767-300s. Condor offers a range of seating options, including economy, premium, and business class, with one-way fares from the West Coast starting at $319.

With the new routes to Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, Condor now serves 16 direct gateways in North America (12 in the U.S. and 4 in Canada):

From its hub in Frankfurt, Condor offers connections to over 100 destinations across Europe and beyond.

Condor is the newest low-cost transatlantic carrier to launch, relaunch, or enhance its long-haul services between the U.S. and Europe, coinciding with a significant resurgence in international travel—though this comes alongside fares that may leave travelers in shock. Other airlines providing budget-friendly options include the Icelandic carrier Play, French Bee (offering low-cost flights to Paris from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Newark), the Spanish airline Level, and the Scandinavian newcomer Norse Atlantic Airways.

“We are witnessing a surge in pent-up demand from Americans eager to explore Europe,” stated Mathias Friess, Condor’s vice president and North America area manager.

Friess emphasized that Condor has traditionally concentrated on underserved secondary U.S. markets—the new routes to major airports such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Boston represent a first for the airline.

Alongside its budget-friendly economy seats, Condor provides competitive business and premium fare options—the airline boasts that its premium seats can be up to 50% cheaper than similar offerings from traditional carriers.

Regarding the candy-striped aircraft, transatlantic travelers will only experience them when connecting in Europe and beyond. The six Condor planes featuring this vibrant design will predominantly operate routes to Greece, Egypt, and the Spanish islands of Mallorca and the Canary Islands this summer—evoking a vacation vibe reminiscent of colorful beach umbrellas and towels.
